On Boxing Day, when I was shopping at Lululemon, I saw this 8 year old girl wearing a shape up jacket..

Don't you just hate it when you see that? Also, when some people aren't even ATHLETIC and they buy Lululemon stuff just for the "look" and because it's popular.

Sorry, I just had to let it all out :o Anyways, what do you think?

I feel your pain girlie I hate that. Why can they not shop at their little kiddie stores. It is almost as if they are growing up so fast. Another thing i hate is when your looking at something and they are with their little friend and start laughing and giggling like little munchkins. I kind of feel bad for the kids who go to their school because they probably feel left out.

To be frank, I more or less dislike any kids from grade 2- grade whatever. Not all of them, just the ones with attitude. how can a child become such a ...bitch i dare say...at the age of 8?! I don't understand!
I'm easily annoyed by some of the new grade nines at my school. But that's a whole different thing.

Same ^^

When I was in elementary, nobody was wearing Uggs or Birks, or even caring what they looked like. Cell phones were for old people. Now there's 9 year olds who want to get their belly buttons pierced. I find it disgusting.

My sisters friend(whos 10) has DC's, a cell, Dorinha's, shops at Garage, ONLY Garage, and straightens her hair everyday, has a bf, worries about bad hair days, and so on... I'm like wow.
At that age I didn't give a crap about what I wore, I think I pretty much wore the same thing everyday, and no one cared. Cus it wasn't all about clothes and brands back then. Things have changed, to much.

My younger cousin who just turned 12 shops at Guess, Off the Wall and Bebe. I don't say anything but I find it strange that she shops at the same stores that I do. It is scary that kids are growing up so fast these days. When I was 12 I shopped at Jacob Jr and other places like that.

^My little sister is 12 and shops at AE, A&F and Lululemon. The clothes at Jacob Jr. she used to love but now doesn't really like because it's ugly. But she shops at Abercrombie KIDS. Now that it's too expensive to ship it in from America then she shops at A&F, so I think it's OK. The reason why she shops at Lululemon is because the quality is great and she dances too..so I think depending on the reason, it's OK. But what bugs me is that the people that shop because of the "look".

I honestly despise all youth. I realize I was at that age at one point or another in my life but at that time in my life I spent my days playing hockey, riding my bike, training my pets, playing manhunt, or trying to save the environment. Or playing some random make-believe game .. all while wearing some random t-shirt and army pants.

At this rate, if 12 year olds are like that NOW, imagine when they're 17? Will they be Blackberry-toting Prada-clad Starbucks-addicted underage freaks that are equivalent to some of today's 32 year old or will there be some sort of backlash against this random trend to erase that whole carefree stage in a person's childhood completely?

.. this is why I don't babysit.

I was in Toronto last week and while shopping at Yorkdale I saw these two girls.. they looked about 10 and 13.. shopping with their dad at Aritzia. They bought like 3 things and it came up to $400!! I was like holy shit you're TEN YEARS OLD!!! YOU DON'T NEED $200 JEANS AT YOUR AGE!!

It bugs me so much. I mean, I was never that spoiled when I was younger but I wouldn't have wanted to anyway. At least I've learned how to spend wisely and I won't be depending on my parents till I'm like 25.

I know! I hate it when kids from like Grade two on buy clothes at expensive places and show off their cell phone to everyone. Back when I was like that age, no one cared what they wore as long as they had something to wear.

I also hate it when people wear lots of brand name clothes and brag about it. This girl in my homeroom class, when she's wearing a Hollister shirt she'll say to everyone, "Hollisterrrrrr" and it's so annoying. Yesh.

I really hate it when kids are getting super expensive stuff. I was shopping the other day and this girl who looked about 8 or 9 was wearing a full Lululemon outfit. I mean, come on! I'm 17 and I don't even get things like that.
I agree with ladyH, with the whole how are they going to be when they are older.

isnt it a little weird how everyone wears pretty much the same thing ? .. i think they should stop mass producing the same style just in different colours. (tna spandex suits for an example) i mean their nice and all but after seeing it on like 50 billion people you kinda get sick of seeing it. or how some moms dress like their kid. iunno if its just vancouver or do alot of vietnamese mom's look just like their kid ? like they'll buy the same thing for themselves and then buy the exact same thing in a different size for their kid. i worked in aritzia well tna this december as a seasonal merchandiser (is that word ? LOL) and like tna had alot of different stuff but i saw this girl in there with her mom and they both had the same suit in the same colour and whatever just the mom had a bigger size. i mean theres alot of different styles out there that make PARENTS look DIFFERENT from their kids. i think they should try it out. as for the money factor, why go straight for the NEW stuff (yeah im a bargain hunter) like wait a while it'll go on sale. and clearance racks ARENT AS BAD AS YOU THINK THEY ARE. apart from sometimes the crappy sizes but AE has really good sales. even though it might be out of season you can wear it when the time comes ! or who cares clothes are clothes right ? lmfao iunno thats just my thought.

I also hate when little kids who are wayy too young to have an attitude, have one. They act like they're better than you, when you're like much older than them. I think the expensive clothes get to their heads. Also, I guess if they have the money, they can spend it on Aritzia stuff, whatever .. how're they gonna be when they're old? Will they have a "made" life, or will their lives revolve around materialistic things, IDK, just my opinion.

i'm not sure how old you are ladyh_, but if you go into a high school you will hear girls swooning over this prada bag and these dior sunglasses. a few of them might even have these peices, or peices like them. why do they want them? yes probably to feel like a celebrity and feel special and fancy in their designer clothes, but also because they don't want to look like 12 year old girls. the 12 year old girls who see 17 year olds wearing something from abercrombie and fitch who go and buy the exact same thing as the 17 year old was wearing because they want to be "cool" and "older" (be honest, there had to be a time when all of you wanted to be older). situations like this are what piss off the 17 year olds and make them not want to shop at certain stores. who wants to go to the mall and see some little girl in AE trying on the same skirt you are?! it may see childish, but i certainly don't. it's embarassing for the older girl, but makes the younger one feel good about herself and that she chose to try on something someone older (aka cooler) chose to try on too. my parents didn't like buying me clothes from these "older girl" stores because of the cost, but i think parents now are also looking at what today's teenagers are getting (burberry coats, even SFAM jeans) and thinking "at least my daughter doesn't want those expensive things!" they should realize that they are setting their kid up for wanting better clothing sooner.
...also i think some of the reason older teens want more expensive/designer things are because they see celebrities a few years older than them with designer things, so they think, "hey that's cute. i want one." and think they should be able to get one, because if hilary duff, who is only a year older has one, why can't she. even t hough hilary is obviously using her own money...
ANYWAY
what else bothers me, is when i am shopping for undies and lengerie and there is some like... child, there haha. like. i don't want to be buying the same "sexy" bras and panties as some kid who definately does not need them, but is buying them, because the cool older girl is and she wants to feel cool and she wants to show it off on the playground to make the other girls feel less cool that they still wear training bras.

hahahaaaaaaaa.
yeah.

I find it annoying when very unpassionate people get into rock songs or rap songs... like when they just listen to them because everyone else does. HELLO!!!! find your own taste!!!!!!!!

I also hate that our society has even made COFFEE a socail statement. And I like mine black, thank you. I'm begining to HATE starbucks because of its popularity. Plus, in New York... it's always so busy.

I hate other fashion/magazine forums. I was just checking on the TeenVogue one and they're all so bitchy!! Frick!! They all seem so shallow and stuck up. Everyone wants to be rated by their pics, and people are really harsh. And they all want to be skinny... so many weight topics and eating disorder topics.

its because probably most of the girls are from America. I'm from the states, too... so any Americans, don't think I'm dissing you. But most Americans are VERY shallow... trust me I went to high school in America... you can't walk the halls with out seeing two people have X-rated PDA.
People used to ask me if I had an eating disorder because I was no skinny (no). But if I did... would I tell you????? NO!!! WHy would that even cross their minds?

I go on TeenVogue when I've read through all of the topics on here, and I know, the girls are so incredibly bitchy. And they think they're all original, and they may be, compared to people who dress in Abercrombie head-to-toe, but they all wear skinnies, tunics, go thrift-store shopping, etc..

I'm one of those girls who wears Lululemon but doesn't do yoga. So sue me. I like the scuba hoodies, they're comfortable, tough (quality-wise), and bring your lazy day up a notch. I don't have a problem with it (ha, obviously).

About the music thing, I totally agree. Yes, Coldplay is good, everyone thinks so. But expand your horizons a little!

About the younger kids buying older girl's clothes, I do think it's horribly annoying. Which is why I've developped my own style that isn't easy for a 12 year-old to copy. They may be focused on the brand, but that's not my goal.

About the parent thing, once I was travelling on a BC ferry and there was this woman walking around in the most attrocious Lululemon outfit EVER. She was wearing light blue matching Scuba hoodie and non-spandex sweat pants (thank goodness). I mean, she was over 40! Dress your age why don't you.

haha, dress your age. Everybody wants to be us, ladies.

I remember when I was the only one who thought goodwill was cool ad the only person to wear skinny jeans and the only person to wear tunics with oversized belts.

It makes me mad!

by the time little kids get to our age (16+), they would've spent soo much time caring about the way they look and where they shop that they'll fail all their courses, drop out of highschool, and end up with a McJob. then they turn 25 and say to themselves, "how the hell did this happen?"

Yea, in elementary now, when you walk in EVERYONE starting from grade 5 wears makeup, perfume, brands, (TNA, UGGs, Lululemon, A&F, the list goes on and on) and if you don't you get excluded. It's really scary. Though I must say baby UGGs are adorable Happy

i hate how when grade 8's (im in bc, high school starts at grade 8) first start out at high school act like they own the place. like hello you guys are the newbies here please have some respect for people who have been here longer than you. and all thoes girls that prance around and strut their stuff argh. seriously it drives me nuts when i hear them screaming and flirting at the top of their lungs with a bunch of "hot" older guys in like my grade or something. as for the guys seriously please stop dressing like you'll end up shooting us all or something like that. or that you're "baller". im tired of seeing all these guys in the same northface bomber, kappa trackpants, shox, and whatnot. seriously FIND YOUR OWN SENSE OF STYLE INSTEAD OF FOLLOWING ALONG WITH THE NEXT GUY YOU SEE BESIDE YOU OR ON THE BASKETBALL TEAM. -.-" sorry got a little carried away there heh.

^In coquitlam (coq+port moody+port coq), highschool starts at grade 9, middle school is grade 6 to 8, and elem goes to grade 5. Just thought I'd mention that :P

But I know what you mean about what those guys wear. The style got old. FAST. It stopped "looking good" when the style first came out. Find your own style. Seriously.
