I have another question:
I'm getting a Brazilian cause I'm going on a mini-vacation this weekend to Harrison...I'm getting it Wednesday, do you think the area (ha, ha) will be okay by the weekend? I know some people get pretty irritated...hm.

emcee: my area was a bit tender the first day (don't wear too tight pants! it feels weird when you sit with it right after you've done it :p) but 2 days later it felt normal again, as in not tender and awkward. haha

good luck tomorrow Happy and have fun at harrison! :p

coconuttie: Yes, I have been there before! I went not very long ago actually. I hadn't had it since I was in New York last!

^Yes, taking Advil before and after is a MUST. I was sooo stupid. I was wearing a super tight pair of pants, which hurt like a bitch afterwards. If it is sore when you are at home, ice it! (I know it sounds weird to ice that area, but it actually felt nice!)

I DID IT!!!

It didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought I would - the lady who did it for me was really nice and professional and quick, and she was just really knowledgable and was able to answer all my questions. I definitely recommend her. She taught me all about like hair cycles and how your hair grows and why you wax at certain times and whatnot, so I'm a lot more clued in to it all now! It was a little sensitive after the wax but it's been like, 2 hours and I feel totally fine now Happy

^Can you explain what she did? Like, as weird as it sounds, I want to know how this process works. I don't need graphic details, but like, how long did it take? Did she literally do everything? etc.
Anyone else who's gotten it done, feel free to answer as well.

^ At Sublime Studio in Yaletown, it's on Pacific Blvd.

^^ Okay well I had to strip down from the waist and clean down there and between there (haha) with a moist toilette that had antiseptic stuff on it. Then I just laid down with a towel and waited, when she came in she kinda just explained the process to me and told me what she was going to do. Basically, she just asks you to move your legs in certain positions while you are lying down and she does the wax.

And yes, the Brazilian takes off EVERYTHING. I asked her about this and she said that if you didn't want everything taken off to just specify where you wanted it to be left alone. Um she was very quick, I think she took probably 20 mins total, and after you can take however much time you need to just relax, but I was up and out of there right after she left the room.

It was really nice, I like it and it wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it would be - it hurts really briefly, like a second, when she takes the wax off but after that it's fine. However, my esthetician did say that the pain varies for some people depending on how fine/coarse their hair growth is, how much hair they have, and how sensitive their skin is in addition to how their skin is at the moment...she said some people have really clammy skin and it makes it harder for the wax to bind to the hair or something.

I have a question too.
How long does the hair have to be? I know if it's too long, I'm sure they can trim it, but if I didn't want to wait longer to grow it out, how long should it be?

^^ Well, it would hurt a lot less if the hair down there is fine. But I mean a wax down there works for anyone regardless of their hair type, it just hurts more for some than others. And also once you start waxing the hair is supposed to grow thinner.

^ Different people will tell you different things, I think it usually needs to be around 1/2 an inch, or maybe 1/4 at the very least. My esthetician asks me to trim it beforehand cause it hurts more if it's longer than it needs to be so yeah.

I hope a wax will rid of my surface itching and last for 2 weeks...
I hope they have a place to do that in the Gaspesie...
I'm too embarassed to wear swimsuits! ><
I want to get a Brazilian. I've plucked before anyway. No biggie then, right?

^ Hahhaa. I've never tweezed down there before but I've gotten my eyebrows tweezed (and waxed) before and I much prefer waxing...tweezing prolongs the pain in my opinion! So maybe a wax will be easier for you to handle Happy

I got a brazilian wax once 1 month ago- best thing I have ever done, but also very painful Surprised

I basically do not have a hair in sight and I love it, and all I have to do is moisturize daily and finally no bumps! however it hurt like MoFo....and it was a tad uncomfortable to have some stranger hovering around that area like its a science project, afterwards I had some redness but got a cooling gel from the place I went to...2 days later It was healed...

For whoever was wondering earlier... i don't think this was answered yet. But waxing the bikini area lasts around 3 weeks.. well more like 2-4 but it depends if it's ur first time or not.
i personally think waxing is the best option because the hair gets thinner and grows slower and after a while (not sure how long) it'll stop completely.
i've never been anywhere professional. my mom actually does it for me with sugar paste she buys. sugar paste is much better because it washes off easier and isn't so sticky and you can wash and re-use the cloth strips.
the thought of brazilian is so scary Embarassed . i guess i don't see a good reason for it either. as long as everything is "trimmed" and well kept, it's all good..... Neutral right?
