I work at a retail... and the boss is having like a major attack. She just fired someone because they screwed up on something stupid like forgeting to give the costumer a recept. I'm scared. I need this job to pay my rent. Should I get a second job just in case. I've always wanted to work at a bookstore right by my apartment. Or should I quit tis one? help me....! _________________

| That's hard. Maybe you should just start looking for a new job in case...that process might take a couple weeks so if the boss fires you then you have at least a sorta back up plan? |

Yeah, you should just apply for some other jobs just in case. Your boss sounds scary. _________________ used to be 'sw33tlilhugz' on the old f18. (; |

It sounds like the problem at your store is poor communication .. if your boss is approachable enough, be honest with her, and ask her if there is any way that you can improve. Don't say "it's kind of scary that you've started randomly firing people, am I on your hitlist?" .. instead, do it really professionally, and say "I've been working here for a while now, and I was wondering if you have any tips that I could use to improve? Is there anything I've been doing wrong, and what can I do to correct that? Should I be taking more initiative to take on extra responsibilities?" [only word that in a way that is more .. you .. haha]. If she knows that you're concerned about your work performance or that you want to improve, if she ever catches you doing something wrong, she's less likely to fire you right away [unless she's NUTS], she'll probably just warn you. There's a good chance she already had a bad impression of the other girl, or else she would not have fired her in that way .. there must have been other instances in the past that left a negative impression. So if you make sure you're communicating with your boss, and make sure that she knows that you care about your job, things will get a lot less scary. I used to be really worried about my job performance and the risk of getting fired, but then I started communicating with my bosses and ACTUALLY talking to them, and it really, really, really helped me to start ENJOYING my job.
If she knows you're trying to improve, she's not going to freak on you AS QUICKLY if you make a mistake. [again, unless she's completely insane .. as some bosses are]
Just make sure you ask her when it's not busy and she's in a good mood, haha.
If you definitely want to keep your job though, if you get the second job, you'll have issues with scheduling .. you'll end up pissing off at least one of your bosses since they have to work around the schedule for your second job. |

| Maybe that girl got fired because she had a build up of a lot of little mistakes? |
