"You're dressed up today"
"Where are you going after school?"
I've worn stuff I thought was casual and I get a few people thinking I've dressed up for a special occasion or something. Suggestions for casual dresses I can wear to school ? preferably without leggings. _________________

jumper style dresses are pretty casual when worn with like a tshirt underneath and flats, maybe tights if you wanted to
babydoll dresses are really cute and casual too , they come in many fun prints and you layer underneath a bright tshirt
simple cotton dresses can be worn with a ton of different things
i think that it doesn't matter about the cut of the dress but more of the fabric, like cotton dresses are more casual like the one i posted above but if i were to find that exact same dress in like a silk, it would seem more formal so i think it all really depends on the fabric
american apparel also have some really nice casual, cotton dresses |

| Yeah, definitely fabric is a big one. I myself love shirt dresses with a big belt on top, they're super simple so it doesn't really seem all that done up. I also have a jumper dress and a plain striped T-shirt dress (similar to this one http://store.americanapparel.ca/rsa2314.html#i but long sleeved) that I like to wear as well. |

most of the dresses you guys have suggested look like long shirts. If I wore them without leggings I'd look like I just forgot my pants, just saying
I was thinking along the lines of:

?? something that looks like a dress but isn't formal looking _________________

| ^ Ah! I really love that first dress. It'd look so cute in the summer with like plain flat Gladiator-style sandals! But not the lace up ones. If you get what i mean, ahahha |

i have a question relating to casual dresses but i didnt want to start a new topic...
so i hope you guys dont mind me asking here!
what could you wear with shorter dresses or reg length dresses other than leggings to cover up and make it look more causal?
because i always feel like with dresses that go up to my mid thigh they're too short... _________________

ooh the shirt dress is so nice...and i love the ones from UO too ^^
I think u just dont have to care what other ppl say...i think it might be because they're not used to see u w/ dresses. but once u wear more often they wont say that anymore. However it's a diff case if u wear a dress and everyone is looking @ u. (cuz ur too pretty |

^ I agree, I remember when I started wearing make-up everyone gave me a hard time, now they don't even look twice.
@lemons22-I don't know if you'd be open to patterned tights, or coloured tights? I no you said no leggings..
Also wearing ankle boots might make your legs appear shorter, therefore less OMG my whole body is showing! _________________ [Veni]..

like what's already mentioned, leg warmers and tights. You could also try knee-high or over-the-knee socks. If it's a really short dresses, you could also wear it with shorts or bermuda pants but it depends on ur dress...that look is pretty nice
oh and actually ankle boots will emphasize your legs...so you could also try knee-length (or over) kind of boots =) but again that's not very casual lol |
