For you guys who are in university, how much did your marks drop between high school and your first year of university?

For me, at the end of Grade 12, I had a 95 average .. at the moment, after my first term at McMaster, I have a B- average. [I'm in the Science I program, majoring in Bio next year].

AHH

Did any of you guys drop around the same, or did your marks basically stay the same? For those that dropped, did it eventually go back up to your usual standards once you got used to everything?

I worked hard last term but I definitely partied a little too much. I need to have a mid-to-high 80 average when I apply to vet school soon so I really really really need to pick up my marks.

My marks were between 85-90 and now I have a 75 average in uni.

It's totally normal. All my classes have to have an average of around 73 for the whole class. Exams are much tougher-people don't usually get over 90 in a class. It's practically unheard of.

I had about an 85 in highschool, and now I think my uni average is about 70-75.

^Yeah at my uni 70-75 is the "norm" for marks. Some of my friends do a little better and get around 80 but usually that's as high as it goes. At first all of us were freaking out-but really unless you're planning on going to grad school your marks don't matter anymore.

In high school, my average was 85-90. My average now is around 85%, but I am finding that I'm working a lot harder in university to keep my marks up.

There are definitely kids in my classes that get 90s. Maybe about 15 out of nearly 700 people in bio got 90s (not me!!!), and there were more in physics, for sure.

In grade 12 I finished with a 91% average, I took 2 maths, bio, chem, french and english. Last semester I took calculus, bio, chem and phys. I don't know what my average was exactly, but my CGPA is 3.7 (A-). Pretty much I'm really happy because I think that's pretty uncommon at McGill.

In high school I got high 80's and low 90's. Now my marks range from the 60's to 70's... and sometimes worse. My friends in other universities don't seem to be doing as badly...i don't know if it's because I'm not studying right (it can't be because i'm studying too little 'cause that's all i seem to be doing nowadays) or if U of T is just screwing me over.

I was so wrong about 70-75. It's more like 65.
