Yay so I finally made my Audrey Hepburn tee that I've kept procrastinating on. I've always wanted one and searched everyone but couldn't find one and those screen-print places were super expensive so I decided to make one. Basically I just printed out a stencil and cut it out with an x-acto knife then painted it on a shirt. Once it dried, I glued on rhinestones in the hair with fabric glue. I know it doesn't look perfect but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out since I am not crafty/artsy whatsoever. And in total it only cost me about $7 (the shirt was $6 and the paint brush was $1 and the paint & rhinestones I already had so they're free).

@t3hmimo: I used acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium.

@lesiam: I got the plain white tee from Fairweather.

^Fabric medium is this stuff that you mix in with the paint so that after you wear the shirt a few times, the colour doesn't start to fade and crack. It's not essential to put fabric medium, though it's recommended. If you don't want to buy fabric medium, you can just iron the shirt with a towel in between for a few minutes once the paint is dry and that will prevent it from fading.

I made the stencil. There's a site that has a ton of stencils and I printed half the stencil on one paper and the other half on another piece (because I wanted the stencil really big and it wouldn't fit on one paper), then taped it together. Then I used an x-acto knife and cut out all the black parts. This was the most tiring and longest part, but well worth it in the end = )

You can get fabric medium at Michaels or at some craft store at Pacific Mall (sorry I don't know the name of the store).

that is way cool.

i've always wanted to make my own stencils and do shirts like that but i never thought they would last... now that you've had it for a while, does it still look good? do wash it any differently that you would any other shirt?

^Yeah it's still in pretty good condition. The colour hasn't faded or cracked. I hand wash it just to avoid any damages that might happen.
