This is a post for everyone who is a fan of indie or alternative music. I was just wondering what some of your favourite bands were, and where you hear about them.

Kind of a place to find out about new bands, discuss your favourite music
Right now I like the Voxtrot, The Oohlas, Men Women and Children. and especially the Comas, all really good bands.

HOT HOT HEAT AND THE HUSH SOUND! <3<3<3<3<3<3

I don't remember how I heard of them. But I love listening to them. It was a shame how I didn't get to see Hot Hot Heat when they came to Vancouver.. ) : I missed the Virgin Fest.

^ Ahhh I wanted to go the Virgin Fest harshly. Quite sad about missing actually.

I am a big fan of Good Shoes....The rest of my indie music seems to be not so indie these days....

ohman if anyone is looking for more indie bands, check out this months issue of Nylon (the one with the white stripes on the cover). It's their annual music issue and they're featuring like 500 bands, no joke.

Indie is a band that's not on a major label, but an independant one. It's not a sound, so I question some of the things people put on here.

I don't really like that much indie. I think a lot of it's boring. Basically, if they aren't playing shows with shooting fire or intense solos on guitars, I'm usually not interested.

I like Hot Like A Robot though. That band's pretty sweet.

Well, yeah, i guess alot of the bands here are not indie, but most of them aren't mainstream.
It is hard to distinguish them by their sound because indie could mean, well, almost any genre, and alot of it is boring. But there are some really good rock bands out there that few people have heard about. I mean, to anyone that mentionned tv on the radio, they definitely aren't the mellow bands that you might hear playing during the oc, but they still are far from being mainstream.

I just get bored of turning on the radio everyday and hearing fergalicious :P
