Do you think wearing a pearl necklace, or a pearl bracelet, is too pretentious? Like does it look vain or too prep school rich and prissy? Like wearing pearls everyday, is that like too snobby? _________________

No. Pearls can be worn by anyone. And half the people I've seen at my school who wear pearls wear fake pearls anyways. Pearls are a classic, I don't think people would classify you as "prep school rich and prissy" if you wear them. That's just stupid. So if you like them, wear them. Who cares what people think. IMO, pearls can make anyone look glamorous any day =)
And I can't live without my real pearl studs. I wear them everyday. _________________

I think they're cute. I bought a few pearl bracelets to wear together with my grad and winter formal dresses and then I just ended up wearing them regularly too. _________________

cuz I'm thinking of buying a pearl bracelet or necklace from Tiffany's, like around $400, but I want to wear it everyday, so maybe I should get something different.. ? _________________

^If the necklace is really bold, then maybe you should get something else. But pearl studs are fine for everyday. I think a bracelet would be ok too. _________________

i find it funny in order to be preppy you have to come from a prepatory school! _________________

I saw a girl with really awesome pearl earrings the other day. They were way bigger than normal, a good bit smaller than a marble. They were classic with a funky spin, I loved them! _________________

I like pearls but of course it depends on how they're worn.
Even though I DO associate it with prep/snob, especially when worn with a polo and hair up in some prep school updo, and then the lots of pink lip gloss combo. |

Okay, this is going to sound absolutely insane.
I bought a pair of designer glasses.
Have you ever heard of anyone scratching the designer label from the side of their glasses?! I haven't done it yet! cuz I know that'd be crazy.
But though I know it's absolutely insane, I'm bothered, about having everyday glasses that have "VERSACE" on the side. It would seem so bitchy and stuck-up.
Before you ask, "Why did you buy expensive glasses if you don't want the label?!" I have to explain that I didn't really care for the label, I was just looking at the style, the design of the glasses, and I just so happened to choose Versace! I did no prior research, I just bought it because it looked nice.
Now I really don't want to look like a poser, or look like a snobby rich girl, because I'm not, I'm not snobby, nor am I rich.
lol, do you suggest I just wear those glasses occasionally, so that I don't feel like I'm overkilling a label? I think I should just wear them when I'm going out, not for school or that.
Advice? _________________

i think that you should buy another cheaper pair so that you could switch them
two kids in my school have D&G and i DONT think of them as rich snobby kids i think it suits them really well
so as long as it suits you wear it but make sure to switch it up and wear contacts sometimes!**

| A nice pair of sunglasses cost a lot anyway and usually people who don't pay $$$ for their stuff who wear glasses have expensive ones... my friend is very thrifty but even she wears $400 glasses and she doesn't come off snobby or whatever in the least bit. |

I say go for the pearls.. but I have such a biased opinion haha. They add such a nice spin to casual outfits. Maybe if you want something edgier, look for different coloured pearls (cream, pink etc)!
For the glasses, I agree that you should buy a cheaper pair and switch them. Or contacts if you already have them. If I was in the same situation as you I would probably feel self concious too, just because everyone at my school loves to flaunt them. A good tip that works for me; usually I wear my new outfits/shoes or whatever on weekends going out first, so when I wear them to school I already feel comfortable with them. |

i really like pearls, especially pearl earrings. definitely do not make you look snobby if you just wanna make a simple tshirt or a cute babydoll shirt something like that look different. i really like the one that was in aldo im not sure if its there anymore but it had two small pearls on the outside and one big pearl in the middle and then a silver chain and like 4 clusters of those pearls. it was really nice, my friend got it and she loves it. and i love it too ! _________________ <3eL |

| Pearls are gorgeous and basically go with everything. If you're hesitant, get some faux pearls - I have a bunch of different styles - from a company called Cezanne. They sell them at the Bay and some of them look quite real. |

I don't find pearls on teenagers to be pretentious or snobby. In fact, it's very classic and sophisticated. I have a pair of pearl earrings I wear on a regular basis, as well as a matching necklace with a single pearl. _________________ "Fashion is in my blood. What's wrong with being preppy?
As for the pearls, I think they're cute and you could probably get away with wearing them everyday.. I don't think it will make you seem stuck up unless you add the attitude to your pearl-laden outfit.
As for scratching the label off your sunglasses, I think if you're going to pay money for something authentic, I think you should wear it without worrying if someone is going to accuse you of being snobby. I get that ALL the time.
Just wear what you want to. |

I wear D&G eyeglasses with D&G on the sides and people absolutely don't find me snobby or rich, because I'm not.
I bought them because they looked nice, and because they make ME look nice. I don't think you should care what others think anyway...
Who cares if people think you look stuck up or snobby? If you think it looks nice, just go for it. _________________

| I love pearls! And like everyone else said, they're a great way of dressing up your outfit and making it a little more timeless and classic! Plus, who really cares if you look preppy (if you do, that is)? As long as you look good there shouldn't be any worries, right? |

i think you're caring too much about the way others percieve you.
like there are people who buy everything just for teh labels, and clearly you dont, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't wear any at all. if you really liked those sunglasses for what they are, just wear them. _________________ formerly sugarr

For the pearls dilemma, I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing them every day. The only thing I'd be worried about would be losing them! But I understand where you're coming from. You're probably afraid that wearing them everyday would make your outfit seem so... precious. But I wouldn't worry. People will probably think you're very classic and chic!
As for the glasses, I wouldn't worry either. I find that most common eye wear stores like Lenscrafters and Hakim sell designer brands anyway, so wearing your Versace specs won't make you seem like you went out of your way to get them. I wear Vogue glasses (the brand that Gisele models for... not as recognizable as Versace but still quite designer-y) and I get more compliments on how I look in them than snotty remarks about me being a label whore. Which, I think, should be the point. If you look good in a pair of glasses, so what if they're designer or economical? |

pearls are beautiful. I wear them often.
as for the glasses, why would people make fun of you because you have nice glasses? if they do, its pretty obvious that they are jealous. _________________ -Natalie- |
