Hope I'm not Shanghai-ing your thread Dezzy but I'm gonna tag my little request onto yours so I don't start a whole new topic for it.
I was hunting around for some French ballads but I can't seem to find any off Limewire. I have no clue where to look or which artists to seek out so any suggestions would be very helpful!
I guess I'm looking for French versions of Sarah McLaughlan, Mandy Moore, Michael Buble, etc. Very Happy TIA!

German... I have no idea except Rammstein, which is like metal rock sooo...

xD sorry. I'll try looking for more bcoz I like that too :3

My friend is like, obsessed with German music, esp. since she started taking German class. =P

French, you say? Well, the only "French" music I know is DDR music, which is where Orange Lounge comes in! XD Very short snippets, but it's French.. and it's the only kind I can actually stand. Icon_XP

As for German, my friend likes Tokio Hotel. That's all I know though. =/

One of my favourite bands is Les Trois Accords. They are from Quebec and they are kind of rock? They're also hilarious!
My friend reccomended me a band called Placebo - they're from France. I actually haven't taken the time to listen to them yet, but apparently they're really popular over there.

That's all I can think of for now.

^ Placebo isn't a French band...They have a couple of songs that they did in french AND english, but for french music, i'd suggest Pierre Lapointe, les Cowboys Fringants, Mes Aieux...

Pierre Lapointe (the video's kinda dumb, but the song is catchy): http://youtube.com/watch?v=iwifSGa19tU

Mes Aieux
http://youtube.com/watch?v=CKf7CrmqKvY

Cowboys Fringants (I don't really like the band that much but I ADORE this song...)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=InCeVCGtHak

And some Placebo for shits 'n' giggles:

Protège Moi: http://youtube.com/watch?v=C28CyibVwnk

I have a lot of Placebo, and I'm going through a phase right now so...^^

Wir Sind Helden is an awesome german band. I have their CD and it's really like, happy music and yeah.
If you're going to download a song, download Wenn es Passiert, definately my favourite song by them.

For french bands, there's konflit dramatik. they're pretty good, althought I've only heard a few songs.
Edith Piaf is nice, but you kinda have to be in a mood to listen to her music...

Les Trois Accords - Hawienne

Indochine - J'ai Demande a la lune
Indochine - L'aventurier

I don't listen to a lot of french music but my french teacher at school showed us some of his favourites (he grew up in Quebec listening to them).

hint, dont listen to tokio hotel.

If you want german rock listen to "die toten hosen" and "Die Ärzte"

and if you like catchy pop download wir sind helden (they have most of their songs in french too), ill recommend

"nur ein wort" http://youtube.com/watch?v=CVmXgOQNtNQ

and "aurelie" http://youtube.com/watch?v=PZV7u-kGDYM

then theres also 2raumwohnung and ich+ich.

I started listening to Rammstein after my debate coach played a cd in his car on the way home from a tournament a few months ago. Now I'm constantly listening to them whenever I get the chance.

Well, I am from Quebec, so I quite know a lot about artists that rock here Happy !

My favorite one is Dumas. His songs are very unique and special.

Mes aïeux, Les Trois Accords and Les Cowboys Fringants are popular here, but I don't really like their style.

I hope you will like these singers because me I do ^^ !
