pretty much i have to be in a gross pool twice a day, 5 days a week for 8 weeks. i went in yesterday and was really itchy and dry afterwards. so i guess what i'm asking is, what are good shampoos, lotions and moisturizers that i can invest in so that my skin isnt peeling off by the end of the summer? (and any other tips for pool-body care)

thanks guys

First off, you should invest in a good waterproof sunscreen. after, buying an apres-soleil cooling gel would be good for your skin (Vichy, L'Oreal, Sheseido sells them).

I know that L'Oreal Kids has a specially formulated chlorine shampoo, and even it's for kids, it works wonders because it really gets the knots, chemicals and smells out of your hair.

As for lotions, I know body butter is the best for dry, itchy skin. Try Vaseline intensive repair, I have that one and it works well!!

Also, using a moisturizer & lippy with SPF really helps too.

Hope this was useful!

aloe vera is your friend.
also, soak your hair in water or water/conditioner before going in so your hair doesn't sponge up cholorine (and if youre blonde, turn GREEN.)

i used to swim, and i know how damaging chlorine is to your hair. its best to wear a cap, ya they look ridiculous but it really helps keep your hair nice

^Yeah my sister used to swim as well, and the cap is the best way to keep your hair in good condition. (Try dusting some baby powder in it first.)

An absolute MUST is shampoo for swimming/residue. I know that AG makes one, as well with other brands at the store.

Before going in the pool, apply a leave-on conditioner. Any barna dwill be fine for this.

After shampooing, you are going to want to find a really good condtioner. ANY brnad that says extra-conditioning will be fine. Some good ones are Frederic Fekkai, John Freida, Got2B, bumblenandbumble, Redken, etc. Usually the conditioners they sell at your salon are really good. There is also this organic conditioner I got from Save-On Foods once that was coconut smelling, and worked like magic. I just can't remember what it was called.

At least twice a week, you should use an intensive hair mask. I know that Ojon has some good products, and Frederic Fekkai has a hair mask with shea butter in (extra good for nurishment). If you are going to be in the pool all summer long, it would be a wise idea to invest in a good product, even if it means ordering it off Sephora.com I mean, you want your hair to be healthy come September, riiight?

Now for your skin:
EXFOLIATE every night in the shower or afterwards. Any body scrub will do, but the Body Shop has some good ones that smell really nice.

Lotions/Body Butter are VITAL. Anything with shea butter and/or aloe vera in it would be your best bet. L'Occitaine has a really good shea butter. You want to apply lotion before you go to the pool, when you get home, and before you go to bed.

You probably would want to give youself a facial every night 9like an Apricot Scrub, St. Ives) as the chlorinewill most likely irritate your skin.

Oh, and whenever you get the chance, have a bath. Use a variety of bath oils and salts that will hydrate your skin, as well as making it very soft. Apply lotion liberally when you get out.

Any lotion works the BEST as soon as you get out of the shower/bath.

Hope this helps!

Oh, and don't forget SPF for the hair! I think there are sprays that contain some protection for your hair from UVA/UVB rays.
