I just thought we should get it going over here too if there's anyone interested. Happy I guess the rules and tricks are slightly different if you have smaller eyes, lack of creases, short & straight eyelashes, etc.

Some things we established in the other thread in the old F18 are:
1. Use white eyeliner instead of black so that eyes appear to be bigger rather than small.
2. White shimmery eyeshadow in the corner of your eyes help make them stand out and apear bigger.
3. Eyelash extentions are available for girls who have short eyelashes.
4. There are such things as eyelash perms too.
5. Special tapes or glues designed to create creases for Asian eyes.

Anyhow, any more? Happy Love to hear people's thoughts.

- Using black all around the eye doesn't always look good for Asians [for some they can pull it off, not all] .. but for me, I found that doing a thin line on the top [smudged out a little at the corners, or winged out at the corners] and then dotting it between my lashes and tightlining [but not the bottom waterline] worked really well. It's the only way I can pull off black eyeliner. It makes it look like I have way more lashes.

- If you use fake lashes, it looks really good if you just use them on the outer corners of your eye [same effect as winging out eyeliner].

- If black doesn't work for you [it probably won't], try bronze [MAC Teddy Eye Kohl is a good colour], a smokey/gray-brown [not the same colour as your eyes or else your eyes look dull in comparison], or a more yellow-based darker green, or my personal favourite .. purple.

- The biggest make-up mistake I see on Asian people is how they use volumizing mascara but don't use a lash comb .. so TONS of clumps!! And it's WAY more noticeable because Asian lashes are generally more sparse and short. I really don't like the way volumizing mascara looks on Asians .. I know our lashes aren't huge to begin with, but something more natural just looks so much better int he end, esp. when clump-free. Something that makes lashes longer and maybe more feather-y, but not like each individual lash is SUPER thick .. our sparse lashes just can't handle it without looking stupid. Also, when curling lashes, don't make it look like this awful crimp, make sure it looks like a natural curve, not like it's practically like a 90 degree angle.

- Have a neutral/"base" colour on your lid, and then a darker colour on the outer corner, and blend it in towards the middle. Concentrate the darker colour on the outer corner, and then blend as you go towards the inner corner, and it'll make your eyes look wider. Never put dark colours on the inner corner or your eyes will look like they're really close together and "chinky" [I HATE HATE HATE that word but it felt fitting .. ]

- When using eyeliner, only line the outer half of your eye .. and blend it from the middle towards the inner corner, so it goes from dark to faded. Completely lining the top sometimes overwhelms small eyes, and if you just do the outerhalf and then blend the other side, it makes your eyes look wider. Or you could use a dark brown on the outer half and blend it into a lighter almost white-ish colour. If we do smokey eyes like people with creases do, it looks like too much on us, so try using a colour other than black, and use a soft kohl-like eyeliner, a little heavier handed on the outer corner, blend from the middle to inner corner, and blend the outer part upwards. It's like an easy, but way more subtle and suitable smokey eye for smaller eyes.

- Personally I don't like the idea of crease-tape, I think we should just embrace the way we were made and make the most of it .. I have a crease so I guess I'm not allowed to talk =P but that's just my personal opinion.

I dunno, this is just stuff that has worked for me =D.

Sometimes I look like I have small eyes, and sometimes my eyes look "huge" (according to other people). Lack of sleep, crying and allergies make my eyes puffy and smaller, so I find that a good night's rest really helps in looking great. I'm a hypocrite, though, since I usually stay up until 2 AM doing last-minute homework! But, really... I look SO much better when I'm rested.

Another thing I find that really helps is making your eyelashes look longer - whether it's mascara or fake lashes. Like ladyh_ said, try to look for mascaras that don't CLUMP. It makes you look more natural and less likey you're a make-up whore. Longer lashes really brighten and open up your eyes, no lie!

I find that my eyes are a little unusual - when I put eyeliner on the top lid, it's not visible when I open my eyes. A lot of people just keep adding more eyeliner and eyeshadow to make it appear, but it looks HORRIBLE. That's just making yourself look like a hooker when you blink or close your eyes. Worst. Thing. Ever.

Anyways, what I do to fix that is instead of using tons of eyeliner and dark eyeshadow on my eyelids, I use a neutral eyeshadow (browns, tans, etc.) to highlight my crease. I take a little bit of light brown eyeshadow and apply it along my crease. The eyeshadow isn't so dark that it seems "unnatural". For more emphasis, you can use a lighter eyeshadow for the rest of your lid (below your crease).

Eyelash extensions (different from fake DIY lashes) look AMAZING. And don't be afraid to try a smoke eye. Practice practice practice. It can make Asian eyes look HUGE and EXOTIC - even without a crease. Of course, this is appropriate for a night out and a bit much for the day, but try it!!!

Yeah, I love Asian Beauty Blog!! And May's videos!

Mmm I've tried those individual lashes for the naturalish look -- and they work great so far. I didn't have that much difficulty putting them on. It took a few tries, but I got the hang of it -- if you put them in the corner of your eyes it flares out nicely and you draw a big more attention to your eyes. Happy I've been wearing them for 4 days straight so far and they haven't fallen off.

I do like white eyeliner. White eyeliner is fun and useful; you can be so creative with it. I like it on my waterline to make my eyes more awake/larger (even though a MAC ma told me it didn't really make a difference, I thought it did for some looks). I use it in the corner of my eyes, then top it off with white eyeshadow for extra staying power to make my eyes brighter. And when I'm feeling "funky" (lol) I use it to line my lower lashline, it looks "mod". =P
I saw a picture of BoA Kwon with white eyeliner, it looks so good on her Asian eyes. =]

^i agree white eyeliner totally works
i got my eyelashes permed so they'll curl (mine were originally stick straight) and that really opened up my eyes

after putting on eyeshadow use white eyeliner and draw it above ur lash line (just like with black eyeliner) this will give an illusion of a crease, this worked for me
