I would say go with a nice simple dress. Seeing as you're meeting your mom's boyfriend, you probably want to go with something a little more conservative, maybe a sweater dress, with tights and a nice pair of flats. Another nice option I think would be a knee length pencil skirt with a blouse, Leighton Meester wore this combo a few weeks back and it looked great, really proper, but not boring at all:

I would just wear something that you are comfortable in. Maybe a nice pair of dark jeans and a nice top and some flats or heels. I like this look also:
or a top like this with jeans and either flats or heels:

| Tomorrow evening I'm going to a dinner or gala, or something for my mother's work. I'm not sure what to wear, the invitation my mother got didn't say anything about dress code, all it said was "first-class gala event." I'm not exactly sure what that means. I've never gone to anything like this. It's supposed to be an awards ceremony thing, and my mother's being presented with one. She said that she thinks it's supposed to be casual, but she's not really sure. No jeans or anything, though. Anyone care to help me decide what to wear? |

| It's definitely better to be over dressed than under. You don't necessarily have to go all out. The outfit I pointed out earlier (scroll up!) would probably be good for something like this; it's formal but not like dressy. Or you could go with black pants, a nice blouse and some heels/flats, which is basically like a go-to outfit! |

^ I used to do this all the time during elementary schoool, cause I hated getting up and trying to decide what to wear - it'd take me forever!
But tomorrow I am probably going to wear...my Lululemon Groove pants, some random hoody and shirt, Uggs...and if it's cold, my Burton snowboarding jacket, but probably my TNA jacket...and my trusty Dakine backpack of course!
As you might be able to tell, I don't really take that long to think of what to wear anymore. Unless it's a date or something, hahaa |

I pretty much gave up on makeup by now... my current stuff doesn't even make a difference on my face..
I didn't get to go shopping spring break, so I had to figure out something...

| ^^ Yep, definitely agree with seasunsky. It doesn't sound too fancy or anything...so I would say (depending on the weather), a nice pair of shorts or pants, a nice shirt, and flats or gladiators. Since what your uniform will most likely be a simple t-shirt and shorts throughout the summer, you should take your chance to be a little more done up I think! Plus with an outfit like cuffed shorts and like a nice drapey shirt or something, you don't look too done up but it's definitely fancier and more put together than just a t-shirt and shorts! |

^Yes, I completely agree. A nice pair of shorts or pants would be perfect, with a nice top. This is a way to show off your style! As for shoes, go for flats or fladiators. _________________

Yep, you should wear something casual and fashion at the same time. Shorts, a nice shirt and gladiators would look really great if it's sunny outside. I have these outfits in mind that could inspire you.
As you can see on both pictures, Mischa and Lauren wear simple outfits, but some great pieces add a little something. It can be a unique jacket, a gorgeous white-cream top, a long necklace or flat sandals. You could also go with a tunic or even an halter top. Good luck ^^ ! _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die tomorrow. |

baby shower: light colours, no black, low heels/flats a skirt and simple acsessories
50s party: patterns and designs, thats all i can think of
grad party; not really sure, is it casual or dressup? _________________ In Europe, without any computers. See you when I come back!<33-Serb- |

baby shower: like serb said, nice light colours, maybe even some cute sandals!
50's theme party: bright colours, patterns, maybe some chunky jewlery?
and grad: if it's a sort of semi-formal thing, then I'd say a nice short dress, and perhaps heels? if not flats.
hope I helped. =) _________________

Baby shower: Though I would think what you ultimately dress like depends on the type of party (ex. garden party, whatever) I do agree with ^ and ^^, light colours is a good idea for the most part. I feel like if you know you're going to be the youngest one there you can dress a little more casually but if you're not you should dress a little more done up, although I have nooo idea why I feel that hahahah
50s theme party: I wasn't totally sure so I googled it:
http://www.retrowow.co.uk/retro_style/50s/50s_fashion.html
http://paperpast-archives.com/fifties/50fashion/
http://www.poodleskirts.us/fabulous_fifties.htm
http://www.fiftiesweb.com/fashion/fashion-w.htm
Grad party: Once again, depends on what kinda party it is. If it's a banquet, sit-down restaurant kind of thing stay on the semi-formal/formal side. If it's like a party party (ex. like get drunk at someone's house to celebrate!) then I'm sure it's more on the casual side, I would go with a cute top and a nice pair of jeans. |

Baby shower : I agree with the girls. Since it's a baby shower, light colors (white, cream, pink, yellow...) would be perfect for the occasion. I think you should wear a nice summery dress or a skirt with a cute babydoll top. Those pictures are examples of what I have in mind.
50s party : When I think about fifties, I think about glamour, curled hair, red lipstick, tight-waisted dresses and, of course, Marilyn Monroe. Maybe it's not very original, but she really owned that decade. The perfect fifties dress is tight-waisted and has a wide skirt.
Graduation party : Same recommendation as emcee. _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die tomorrow. |

NOOOO
Doesn't matter if she'll be wearing a uniform!
You should dress as if you will take the job very seriously. You don't necessarily have to be fancy, but jeans are usually a no at any interview. _________________

| I think you should still dress more formally. If you choose to wear jeans, make sure they are dark ones, and are not frayed or distressed. For something like the PNE (I think that's what you are doing) I think dark wash jeans would probably be okay. But as a general rule, you usually shouldn't wear jeans period. I usually just wear a pair of plain black trousers and a buttoned, collared blouse - I have a really cute AE one that I bought like last month. Never go too trendy for job interviews either, you want to dress mature (unless you are interviewing for some kind of fashion-related job, or maybe retail like Aritzia or Plen+y). |

pinkyswear: I say don't wear jeans. Wear a nice pair of black or beishe pants, with a nice top and a cardigan. For shoes, I am sure a cute and nice pair of flats would be nice. _________________

American Apparel just called and said they want me for an interview.
What do I wear?
Should I go all out with AA, or have just one piece from it?
Should I dress the AA style, or go dressed a little fancier?
Gahhh, can anyone help me out? |

^^ if you could dress up american apparel clothing, i'd say go for that.
i wouldn't dress their style though.. its a little too laid back for an interview imo. _________________ formerly sugarr

| ^^^ You can use some basic AA pieces, but I agree that you shouldn't wear it head-to-toe as it is a little casual for an interview. Maybe an AA plain tee tucked into a high waisted pencil skirt? |
