i think it's kind of like a french braid only to the side
like the same technique
i just think it would be awkward to do. all the girls do it for rugby to keep their bangs out of their faces and hold pro wrap in place. _________________

I'm yet to try it but I'm pretty sure it's just a french braid. Only don't pick up too much hair. _________________

yeah i don't know if it'd be easier to have someone else do it? i think the problem i'm having is that i can't get the hair to go into the braid as i go along, so all the hair underneath isnt braided ... like this picture:
this one doesn't look as good but the hair gets pulled into the braid as it goes along ... i hope it makes sense ? |

^Personally, I find it easier to have someone else braid it for me. But thats cause I have troubles doing French braids that way. But like steph and DeadDisco said, you just french braid a small section of the front. It is a really cute hairstyle! _________________

yeah it's like a side french braid.
i actually have it in my hair right now! it's pretty easy (i'll try to explain)
- part your hair to the side, start at the part with three pieces (if you know how to braid regularly, which you probably do, this should be easy)
- start braiding, and after the first braid keep adding pieces of hair to the left and right strands before you cross them over, until you get to the side
- then to make sure it stays in place, get a really small elastic band the colour of your hair and tie it off (or you can bobby pin it in place, i do both)
i don't know if that was a very good explanation, but try googling it. i never used to french braid and i saw it everywhere so i started practicing and now it's easy for me. _________________

^Yeah, at first it is reallly tricky (I just learned not that long ago) but after a while it gets much easier. It helps to practice on a friend. =) _________________

^^I don't think it would have to be that long. Since you're always grabbing more hair when you french braid, it wouldn't matter if your hair was short because you'd always have the next piece to grab onto. Does that make sense?
But also, if it's too short, you'll have ittle tufts sticking out where the ends of your hair was.
The braid works on my hair and my "bangs" reach my nose. _________________

^^^As long as your bangs aren't super short, like at your eyebrow, then it will work fine. It is just that if they are on the shorter side, the braid tends to have lots of little pieces sticking out, like DeadDisco said. _________________

^Angela, they should be fine. My bangs are just at eye level and I french braid all the time... just use a lot of hairspray, because what I've noticed myself is that the ends of the bangs peek out and it looks kind of odd. _________________

^Yeah, i agree. I have noticed this style has worked best for me when my bangs were above my cheekbone. _________________

| I tried it out yesterday and it looked alright on me. My mom was like "did you braid your bangs? I was like no I french braided them, big difference." Maybe if I straighten my hair it would look better because my hair is curly. |

^ it could help a bit. it'll just smoothen your bangs and make them the same texture so you dont get random fly aways _________________

^I meant that the rest of my hair was curly and I left it down so I wasn't sure how it would look lol. But that would probably help a lot so thanks! |

^Haha me too. It's a really cute hairstyle and I can do it in minutes so that's good because I don't spend a lot of time on my hair anyway. I just wash and go. Well actually wash, mousse then go lol. |

haha. i have it on right now. i've tried to do it my self but it just doesn't work out too great. I get my mom to do it. lol
but i think it works the best with longer hair that is straight or straightened.
It's just simply a small french braid. I could probably do it to someone else btu it takes practice. _________________ __________________________________> <_________________

| ^ My mom always french braids my hair, and right now she is trying to figure out how to do the side braid, she always seems to make it go to the back instead of ending to the side (she starts at the front and off to the side) I wonder why she does that. |

^^ lol yea i wonder why ur mom ends up doing it that way.
If it makes it any easier your mom could try just sectioning off the part of hair she's going to use. So, like from your hairline, back a couple inches and down to about your ear and pin the rest back. That way she won't grab any hair from the side and it should go straight down.
Hope that makes sense. _________________ __________________________________> <_________________
