So I bought this skirt (the one that I was asking about it the What To Wear With thread) and today when cleaning my room I was looking at it and realized it's washing instructions are dryclean. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew that's what it was since I don't want to have to pay for drycleaning, plus it's a pain to go and drop it off and get it.
So is there any way I can wash it myself and not wreck it? What if I just handwashed it carefully and hung to dry?
It's white with pink embroiddery and it's 100% cotton. _________________

If it's cotton, I think it should be fine. With a skirt like that anyways, you'll probably rarely have to wash it, unless you get something on it (I'm so bad for that!!). I have lots of things that say either hand-wash or dry-clean, and don't bother doing either. It's just a way for the company to protect themselves in case something should happen when you wash it, I think. _________________

Okay thanks. I tend to not listen to washing instructions and find what works best for me. _________________

| I definitely agree, if it's cotton it should be fine, if you want to be safe hand-wash it or put it on the delicate cycle of your washing machine. The only real things that I get drycleaned are delicate dresses or things made of silk. And some of my jackets! |

Yeah, it should be fine since it is just cotton. I never get my cottons dry-cleaned, unless for some strange reason. But yeah, she wash it by hand in COLD WATER, and hang dry it. I'm sure with that skirt you won't need to wash it alot. Good luck! _________________

Wash it in ICE COLD water.
I think I know why it would say dry clean only-because it has colored embroidery against white fabric, regular washing would probably make the thread bleed into the white.
But whenever in doubt, ask the mother! When I was studying overseas I called her all the time to ask her about washing things! lol |

^I didn't think of that! (colour bleeding) so I'll be sure to use ice water. Thanks! _________________
