has anybody tried sugaring at home?
like those kits you see at superstore & london drugs ..
the only thing about shaving that i don't like is that i ALWAYS get ingrowns. its like the hair doesnt want to grow straight out of my leg anymore =[
sugaring looks a little less messy and complicating than waxing at home ..
any opinions ? _________________ formerly sugarr

Crazy. I was just thinking about making a topic on this.
There was a Glow magazine in my breakroom at work and they had an article on waxing and sugaring. After reading it sugaring seems like a better method of removing hair.
I didn't get a chance to read the whole article, but it said that sugaring lasts a little bit longer than waxing. Not a ton, buy I think maybe up to a week? Plus it's easier to clean since it's water soluble.
I'm wondering if you can still get ingrown hairs from sugaring? Because can't you get them from waxing? And they both have the same concept.. so .. still possible?
I've seen a few at home kits when going to pick up wax and now I'm tempted to go try one out.
So I don't know if any of what I just said is helpful or not. Just stating what I might know. _________________

Crazy..yesterday before I even saw this topic I googled recipes for it.
Anyway I think it's good cause it's a lot less expensive than waxing, or you can make your own at home. I want to give it a try maybe. Yeah, it's messy, I've never tried it but it sounds a bit messy. Some people say it is less painful or better than waxing. I'll try it sometime soon and let you know how it goes haha. Do you think it's alright for the bikini line?
Here's some links for at home recipes:

Woah, I didn't know you could make your own stuff from recipes. I definitely want to try that.
I think it would be okay for your bikini line but you should probably try it out first somewhere else just to see how it works for you. If you've ever waxed your bikini line, I don't see why this would be so bad. _________________

I've never even heard about this until today ...
do you have to use the cloths though? Can't you just peel it off? |

^I always thought you used cloths. To pull it off you would have to let it harden, right? And I don't think it's supposed to. _________________

hmm, i have never heard of sugaring at home
if you want, go for it, but i would just stick to waxing, i wax my own legs and i waxed my bikini area once and it actually didnt really hurt that much, it was mainly actually doing it. I syched myself out so much, i was like standing there going ok its gonna hurt 1..2..3.. and then i would stop and do it all over again. i think it took me like 10 minutes to pull the first strip, anyways umm ya i didnt mean to go into all that detail, it probably didnt even make any sense haha _________________

last month i bought body sugar from shoppers drug mart. the brand is Parissa. anyway, i've only used it once. for fine hair on my legs (thigh area) since i usually shave my legs, and it said it's best if the hair is 1/4 of an inch long for it to work.
so, i shaved up until my knee and wore capris or bermudas so i could test it on my legs. it worked pretty well.
i tried to do my underarms a couple weeks later (growing it out is so gross!) but it didn't work that well for me.. mayeb it was the way i was doing it. but who knows!
a couple of my friends say it works great for them (using the same brand i bought), but i'm still not sure if it's that great. though i've only used it twice :p |

^I think I'll try that brand out. Or maybe I'll try using one of the recipes first and then if I don't get great results I'll try that.
Also, I tried waxing my armpits before and the first time I did it, it actually worked pretty well (aside from being painful!) but then the second time it didn't work at all. So maybe give it another shot? _________________
