So with spring supposedly on its way, it's time to get "the area" poolside ready. I'm a long time trimmer/shaver, but am getting tired of all the work. So how BAD, is getting a bikini wax? Any tips?? OH && has anyone seen the infomercial for Bikini Touch? Is that any good??

Ah I'm going for a full leg and bikini on Tuesday. I'm so scared.

The only thing I know is don't do it if you're about to get your period, or on your period.

That would be EXTREMELY embarassing!! Good luck on Tuesday. Let me know how it went.

I'm totally digging your Elliot Smith picture btw. His rendition of "Hallelujah" gives me goosebumps...LOVE it.

No ur not supposed to go during your period or anywhere near it (before or after) because you are more sensitive and it hurts more. You are supposed to go far away from when you are about to get it, lol. I kind of want one for summer, but then I would be too embarassed and it would probably feel weird after, lol.

It is SO painfull. But then again, I have a low resistance to pain. I got back to Veet after trying it.

But I wax everywhere else and it doesn't hurt, so maybe it's just getting used to it.

So I went, a couple of weeks ago, and it was painful, but you know, you get over it. I didn't find it awkward at all what with the area and such. That said, I definitely would not do it regularly, only for special occasions, or once at the beginning of summer.

I really wanted to try the naughty nads wax because they come with cool designs, lol.
-lightening bolt
-heart
-landing strip
-bermuda triangle

ALthough, its like fall now and almost winter so whats the point if ur not wearing a bathing suit. Maybe I will try them next summer.

^No, I do not either.
But I have had a Brazillian before, and it does hurt. I don't even know why I got it, kind of on a whim in New York. But they were really gentle (lol) but I did take Tylenol after

I wouldn't do a brazilian at home, but for Bikini wax I use the Veet wax strips (the ones that already have wax on them, you just rub the strips between your hands to warm them up, peel open, and apply. They're pretty fool/mess proof.

I think a bikini wax is just like, the area around your vag. While a brazillian is like, everything?

^ I think that's the distinction for the most part, but I've heard that different salons might have different treatments or whatever so it's always best to clarify...bikini = bikini line, Brazilian = everything (and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING..)

I waxed my bikini area for the first time a few days ago, it hurt SO MUCH! I felt like I was ripping off my skin. And it bled a little bit too. At least it's gone now lol.

^^ In Vancouver, a lot of my friends go to Eccotique...they say it's good. I haven't gotten one for the summer yet but I think I probably will by the end of the month.

^ Yep, that would be the beaver cleavers. The YVR leaves a "strip" (ha, ha) and the West Coast Forest Fire takes everything off, a la the Brazilian.

just wanted to say that i got my first brazilian done today!
it wasn't as bad as i was anticipating Happy it's only been around 5 hours but i'm happy with it so far!

but instead of going to Eccotique (thought it was a bit too pricey) i ended up at a little place in Yaletown, but it was half the price Happy

^ Yeah they are a little pricey -_- I heard they give you a massage and a compress after though which is good (though the idea of someone massaging you down there kind of makes me giggle, I am so immature).

Where did you end up going and how was it? Would you recommend it?

^ have you gotten it done there? haha i wonder how the massage is... seems nice after a somewhat painful experience? :p

^^ i went to Sublime Studio. it's a small little place down on pacific blvd and davie but it wasn't bad. she charges first timers $25 and from then on when you go back it's $35, i think.

it wasn't as painful as i thought it was going to be! its been a full day and i'm pretty happy with it! just.. getting used to it! =)

I've been tempted to get one for the longest time but I can't help but think it would be so awkward.
