Now that I got accepted to my first choice university, I'm feeling a lack of motivation to continue working hard in school.
In a way it's good, I don't have to stress myself, and can actually enjoy the remaining 2.5 months of high school.. not worrying about every little quiz or piece of homework that comes up, while my classmates do worry about it as most of them haven't been accepted yet, and are hoping to get offers during the second round of admission when second semester midterms come out.. so it's a do or die situation for them.
Even if my grades slip to the mid 70s (which is highly improbable, considering I have two easy courses this semester), I can still get $1,000 entrance scholarship.. so I'm safe in that respect. If I'm getting 90s right now, almost halfway into the semester, I don't think my marks can slip too much.
So that safety net gives me no incentive at all to continue working my butt off.
Anyone else experiencing this? _________________

Don't worry, I experienced the exact same thing when I was graduating. And it ALMOST screwed me over. My provincial exam marks were in the low 70s (and I got a 65 in French because, well, I just didn't give a crap and studied for 10min the night before). The only thing that saved me was that my AP marks counted in determining my average, and I had done really well on those exams/classes.
But don't panic too much-most people's marks went down a LITTLE bit between mid-year and finals but (at least from my group of friends anyways) nobodies marks dropped so badly that their acceptance was "revoked" (although it's possible).
My advice is to enjoy the last bit of high school but just push through it when it comes to exam time. I know you're close, but just think that you don't have to deal with this anymore so you might as well work your arse off through the end. Plus a bigger scholarship can always help out-I used mine to fund my summer exchange last year.
Good luck! Enjoy the last bit of high school-it goes by way too quickly. |

Midterms are coming out soon, and marks barely matter after that, except I know I should still try to work hard to get more money!
I think I'd feel pretty bad if the difference between getting $1,000 and $1,500 was like, 0.5%.
So I think I'm going to attempt to continue to work hard. Even though I don't want to. _________________

| I totally feel the same way. I feel like now is the time to slack off, since in university, I'm going to have to work my ass off to get into medical school. So whatevs. I'm going to enjoy my last three months of stress-free school, and I'll probably still get a 95% average. Yay graduation! |
