Baby tees! Those fitted, slightly small tee shirts, that would either have a boy band name or Britney Spears or whatever brand was popular back in the day. Preferably in baby pink or baby blue colour. XD
Jeans with embellishment... flared jeans. Flowers, butterflies, rhinestones, all that good stuff lol.
Cropped cardigan with a spaghetti-strap tank, both in vibrant colours, then a co-ordinating colour purse or necklace.
But basically I remember flared pants being really popular that year.
You should watch old Britney Spears MVs for inspiration... Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore, basically their videos summed it all up.
Have fun ^-^ _________________ I have bad news. I got a girl pregnant. WHAT?!?! |

^ Haha yeah!
The 90s make me think Spice Girls. Remember those big platform shoes they wore? If you can get your hands on those and wear them with flare jeans and a tanktop that'd be soo 90s! |

Umm.. those hugely baggy jeans and Spice Girls outfits were more mid-90's.
90's fashion was bad, but not THAT bad lol. _________________ I have bad news. I got a girl pregnant. WHAT?!?! |

^ lmao....funny thing is i'm wearing bright blue northern getaway socks right this minute.
how cool am i? they're pretty old I loved their sweaters that were like Spice Mice and Catstreet Boys lmaoooo. And then the dog and cat ones. And the little ice cream cones and things. Those were the days...of course paired with leggings or co-ordinating jogging pants.
You know you're getting old when you look back and year 2000 was almost a decade away..and you realize how bad the 90s clothes were...of course, they weren't at the time!
Definitely get flared jeans with embroidery or something, spaghetti straps, remember headbands were popular then and are now again, only thick ones, um...check out the olsen twin's clothes from that time, that could help. _________________

You're seriously having a 1999 party?!
!!!!!
Wow, what?! LOL I know it's stupid but I'm almost, like, insulted. 99 is my favorite year of all time. Geez. Melrose Place ended (dang!), J.Lo comes out, J.lo/Diddy, Britney/Justin... Oy. I remember 1999 start to finish - every song - the thong song, get it on tonight, heartbreaker, no scrubs, if you had my love ETC. LOL...
1999 wasn't THAT long ago that it works as a theme party..is it? Well, what do I know, I'm depressed that the late 90s and early 00s are over. I now mope and think about it like everyday and only listen to 90s music, haha.
Definitely NOT those jeans, btw..those are early 90s.
1999 - bootcut denim, boots, sweater coats (in tan or black). Very basic, in a sense. Watch some old episodes of Friends, specifically Rachel - everything is fitted but not in a lazy way at all...what was hot then is a very basic look now. OH and you can't forget those black kind of wedge sandals with the toe/foot cover thing made of the stretchy black material. Baby T's is a good one.
Spice Girls peaked and declined in by June 1998, so not a great example. They came out again in just at the beginning of 99 with "goodbye" but even within that 6 month period, their look changed dramatically. It fits in much more with today.
The late 90s is not that bad. The early 90s were still very 80s inspired, so some no no's in there, but late 90s imo is not "awful" lol. |
