So I want to wax my legs, but I have never done it before. So I was just wondering how long the hair has to be before you wax it and what type of waxing method I should use. Should I just get it done professionally or should I just do it myself and is there a specific brand that I should use? So any tips would be helpful, thanks!

I think there might already be a topic on this.

If it's the very first time, I'd suggest getting it done professionally and then trying it yourself the next time.
For doing it yourself, I think the hair is supposed to be 1/4 inch? Most kits tell you how long in the instructions.
Then you have your choice of wax strips, or the wax you apply yourself and then rip it off with a cloth. The first time I waxed I used a jar of wax and that was nice, but recently I've tried the waxing strips and they seem to work pretty well. I find that instead of heating them by rubbing them in between your hands, it's easier if you have a hot water bottle and then just hold the strips against in to warm up the wax.
For brands I've tried Alexandria (tub of gel wax which wasn't bad) and Veet (for the strips). Both seemed to work well.

I've only waxed my legs a couple of times. I don't think it's THAT hard, to be honest, you could probably do it yourself the first time, but ONLY if you're only going to do your legs - don't try like, your bikini line or eyebrows cause that might turn out badly. I used a drugstore brand called Parissa I think, and it worked fairly well, it was the kind where you don't have to heat the wax and the strips are reusable (you just have to wash them before you use them again). I've also used strips once, the Veet ones, and they worked really well, I liked them WAAY better than regular wax, since they were less messy.

But now I just shave, cause waxing takes foreveeeer. I might wax my legs again before summer starts, because my leg hair grows super slowly anyways so it'll grow even slower if I wax, and then I won't have to shave for like a month in the summer! Haha

THanks for all of your tips girls! So I waxed my legs tonight with my friend using the veet wax strips. They worked pretty good and were fairly painless, but they left a little bit of a rash behind. My friend's legs were really rashed out and red, but mine were only a little. I dont know if this is normal and if its going to go away soon, or if im having an allergic reaction to it. I like how smooth the wax made my legs, but I found that I missed a couple patches because I couldnt see where I had already waxed and the waxing strip kinda lost its stickiness after a couple of times.

^I find that you can only use a strip a few times, then there's too much hair on it to really stick on again.
Also, I haven't had any problems with rashes, minus a little redness once, but I know when I waxed with my friend when she got horrible rashes one of the times. I don't know if it was because of the wax, or if it had to do with her hair being too long.
