Last semester (when my course load was light and fun!) I put my name down for possibly being a french tutor. Today (fully immersed in my new term which is pretty heavy homework-wise), I got a call from one of my parent's friend's kids who saw my name on the list and since I can't say no..I said I would tutor him! I'm not so much worried about the time, my major concern right now is that I've never done this before! So can anyone tell me, how much do I charge? Do I make a lesson plan?? (He's doing Passe Compose) -do i make cue cards? do i get notes off the internet? do i do his homework?? what if we just sit there in silence and i don't help him at all!! ahhhh suggestions/advice? =) _________________

i have a tutor for math
she basically helps me with homework, so i do my homework during the time we have together and she helps me if i have any questions. we also have a workbook which has all the stuff from my school math curriculum. after finishing my homework, we have a lesson which is sometimes the same thing from school, or if we're ahead, we go ahead. after the lesson, she then circles a few questions and i do them to show her that i understand, she then marks them and assigns me my tutor homework
whenever i have tests though, she makes me write down little note sheets to study from which are very helpful
i hope this helps! |

^YES thank you!!
i had a math tutor last year and i worshipped her! she was so amazing and she just seemed to know everything but i can't really picture myself sitting there and explaining Passe Compose..it's basically memorizing =S haha
but thank you- i think i will stick to helping him through his homework and then assigning a few questions to see if he gets it, seems like a good idea =D _________________

I tutored a grade 4 girl last year in french, and I would basically help her through her homework and go over what she was doing in class. Don't worry about it too much, because the kid should have a work to do, and should be able to tell you what he's doing in class. I don't know how you would make a lesson plan because how would you know what he was doing class, unless you called ahead of time?
I'm sure you'll be great at it, I didn't find it hard at all. _________________
