Okay..I know its a little bit early. But I was looking at prom dresses the other day so it made me think...what kind of prom dresses do you want/have/did you have??
I think I want a green one. Something somewhat simple..not a big floofy one. I might actually match with the theme (James Bond!) for once. |

I'm getting one done. Since i don't want to spend like 86976543546876 on couture for a one night thing, i'm just getting the same style made!
most people go to BCBG, which is, in my opinion, a fair price for a decent dress. i say decent only because it's nothing original, i mean some dresses are gorgeous but not really prom dress material right? |

i'm getting mine made at this place in the Arbutus Mall. It's right near the DanceCo and it for mine it's costing around $300, but you have to pay for fabric (and she sends you to this wickedly good place for it too) and so in my case, silk fabric amounted to liek $100? So if you dont get silk it's cheaper.
also Blush Designs in West Van has a bunch of prom dresses. |

I'm not getting a poofy dress. Just a gown. Barely anyone at my school is doing poofy since our whole grad set up got changed and we're wearing the grad gowns when we walk across the stage, instead of the dresses as usual. So the dress is only for our banquet/dance and I plan on getting some kind of gown for that. _________________

This is hopefully what I'm doing. I went to this shop downtown last week, because my mom knows it gets this cool stuff from Montreal (the designer is Myco Anna, google it, it's pretty neat). The owner, this really nice girl, didn't have any of the spring collection in, though. She did show me some of her designs, and some vintage dresses she's collected. There was this one vintage dress from the 50's that was about knee length, white lace, with 3/4 length sleeves. I want her to alter it so that's it's strapless. eeeeeee this makes me so excited. I'm going back on Friday to see if she could do this, how long it would take (I want to wear the dress when I go on a cruise, too), and how much. Hopefully it's not more than like 250 bucks. Already that's a little much. But yeah. I don't want a gown or anything, I want something totally unique that'll I'll be able to swear again. _________________

i think prom dress wise, it should be at the ankle, or full...none of this in between stuff. but i hate seeing people's dresses way above the knee. keep it classy kids. Mine's going to be at the knee and trails a bit longer in the back (maybe) so taht i can use it later, not only for grad.
i kind of htink it's a waste to spend so much money on a dress you only wear once. |

how much are dresses at holts?
plus why do most prom dresses have to be so cheap looking? and they're all pretty much the same design all the time, I get sick of looking at my older friends' prom pics because year after year and on like everyone is just the same kind of Fairweather material even though they're from a whole lot of different places. note: it's funny how many people look like posers in their suits or dresses, like they're totally gangsta in ordinary life, it's weird to see them trying to look classy lol. _________________

I got a grogeous dress at www.superchicstore.com
It's $149....it 's a good deal. What do you guys think?
I've been told by their sales that they also take custom orders....and the price is around 200...not bad

I have to go shopping for my dress too...The only thing I know is I want it barbie pink. And was wearing a shirt the exact colour I want my dress and a girl in my class told me (out of nowhere, really) that I should get my dress that exact colour...I didn't really need approval cuz my mind was made up but, yay anyway! ^^ |

HEY!
I really need some help!
I've been looking for a dress for ages but I dont know what would look BEST on me?
I'm pretty short, around 5'1, 100 lbs, so I'm guessing a short dress? Strapless?
Anyway here are some pictures of mee, thanks
Which colour and style would look best? & which ones should I avoid?
I also tried on a couple of dresses but they dont really suit my body/do anything for it

[PS* I took these before the closing night of my school play, so I'm wearing alot of makeup in some pics] EDIT: took some usless pics out
here is a body picture of me performing, i'm the one on the right:

| ^ I would actually say that a long dress might work better (as in floor length), unless you were willing to go really short. Lots of people who were petite in my grad class wore giant ball-gown like dresses and I thought they looked great. |

Last year I had my prom, and I had a gorgeous dress!
it was fitted yellow satin, halter top style with an empire waist, just above the knee.
from an amazing little boutique in Toronto called "Fashion Crimes" (seriously they have the BEST dresses!)
I love it so much! I want an occassion to wear it again. _________________ -Natalie- |

^ you can edit it out
this year im thinking purple, or royal blue. kinda shiny material. not cheap shiny though.
i want it fitted, but with some bunches, and i don't care too much about the straps. maybe square ones, maybe halter, maybe not. and stopping at my shins. or a little higher. _________________
