Which handbag?

Last season, I bought myself a Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag, but I found the leather on the edges and on the front already started cracking after only a couple of months (even though I used leather protector on it). So now I'm planning on splurging on a higher quality purse that I can use for at least another 5 years to come...I'm thinking about getting a Balenciaga motorcycle (so 2005, I know, but I still love it) or a Chanel flap (but it's in the $3000 range which is very steep for me).

Which would you pick: Balenciaga or Chanel?

I would probaby pick the Balenciaga purse, simply because it is very roomy.. Chanel is classic though. If the ones you're looking at are similar in size, then I would take the better deal..

Personally I would pick Chanel cause the style is classic so even in 5 years, it would still look amazing. You can never go wrong with chanel!

If you want something really high quality, go with Bottega Veneta. Although it is owned by the Gucci Group, they have retained their own production processes, and all their accessories are hand made.

i googled pics of both, and i really love the balenciaga one... the chanel one is nice too, but it just seems so matronly =S it wouldn't fit in with my everyday wardrobe, but if it does for you, then go for it =)

at first i was going to say go for the balenciaga but i also love the chanel one, but as lilpinkbunnie said above, the chanel is more classic

but as also mentioned above by .beautiful. the balenciaga is more roomy and it will probably go with more things

I would go with the Balenciaga bag, as the people have said already, that its:
-roomier (and you could fit more stuff if you're going to use it as your everyday bag)
-would fit better with your wardrobe
-its also cheaper?

I agree with everyone else,
Balenciaga would definitely be more useful for everyday uses. BUT Chanel is a classic, and will always be one. You would probably be able to use the Chanel 40 years down the line, whereas you probably wouldn't be able to with the Balenciaga.

Ah!! That's definitely a really tough call. I would say go for the Baleciaga (especially if it's the cheaper one) - there are just soo many fake Chanel purses out there, and I dunno, someone having a Chanel purse wouldn't stand out to me. There don't seem to be as many fake Balenciagas out there, I think it'd be more unique to have one Happy

But I do think they both are versatile and would probably work with your wardrobe.

Tough decision! I love my Balenciagas. They are just so polished looking and go with everything. But, you can never go wrong with Chanel. More people have Chanels, so I would go with Balenciaga.

BTW: Marc by Marc Jacobs is WAYYY cheaper quality than Marc Jacobs.

You guys are amazing.

I've decided to go with the Balenciaga for now...plus a pair of Miu Mius or Louboutins Happy

It might end up costing the same thing as a Chanel, but then at least it's gone to shoes AND a purse instead of just one purse.

As for Bottega Veneta, I really like the idea of putting money towards their craftsmanship and superb quality but I just can't get myself to fall for their designs.

My sister has a pair of black Louboutin pointy toed shoes that she wears to work (at an office). Unfortunately, her feet are a size smaller. They are basic, but they are so beautiful and I would do anything to fit in them.
