i have a job right now and i love it,
but i get paid every two weeks and it kinda sucks
because i blow my money pretty fast..
sometimes i can save, but i usually dont. =P

but thats not the point, i need to save up for a computer, furniture
and a car and this biweekly pay + satisfying my needs to live
wont work if i want to save up

so i was wondering if you guys have any ideas for little 'part time' jobs.
mine is part time right now, i work 3 days a week.
but since its starting to get warmer and the days are getting longer,
i want another simple job i can have another way of getting money.
i usually need to get rides to and from work so my parents arent available
all the time. i am somewhat avoiding busses/trains just cause i seem
to get lost no matter what, but ill give it a try again.

if you guys have ideas, please let me know!
thanks.<3

I think instead of getting another job, you should try controlling your spending habits. Did you really need that new shirt you got last week? Those pair of shoes? Or that coffee from Starbucks? <- adds up so quickly for me

What I've done is I've left my debit card at home and carry around limited cash. My cash is usually nice crisp new bills too so then I'm less inclined to spend them (lol XD). That way when I want to buy something I'd have to go home to get my card/cash and think about it first for a bit. It keeps me from making impulsive buys.

As for ideas for extra part time jobs you could:
-babysit
-tutor
-mow lawns?
-teach something (say you play piano, you could teach that)
-if you're up for the risk, stocks are a quick and easy way to make money

My debit card is better for me than cash. When I have cash it gets spent and I have no way to keep track, but when I use my debit card and get my bank statement, I can actually see how much I spend and how the little things add up.
If my spending is half of my monthly income, that helps me realize that I should spend less. Right now I barely spend anything.. looking at university tuition fees put me in my place! Shocked

If you spend your money alot at a specific place, maybe get a job at that place?

I used to spend $150 a month on Starbucks so I got a job there and now I spend maybe $20. I've saved ALOT of money off that. And I only work 2-3 days a week, they are really flexible.

Also, get a debit card and ask the bank to set a limit for you. Like, I can't spend over $250 on my debit card or withdraw more than $100 from an ATM a day. I also set up a savings account that takes $100 of my money from my chequing account and puts it there. I have $1000 in there, and I have sworn I will use that for important things (like university, etc.)

^ which bank are you with? i want to see if my bank can do that for me
(switching money from chequing to savings)
cause i am totally incapable of saving money.
i really love my job right now, and i dont plan on leaving
only because if i stay..i have better chances of getting to the school i want.
[fashion design/textiles & such]
they dont pay alot, but i know in the end..my benefit of being there will
make up for the crappy wage.
..well i hope it does. lol.
ive got a call to baby sit two little boys, but the lady hasnt called me back.
i moved to a private school so i dont even like..need clothes
because i wear a uniform 5 days of the week.
but i cant stop myself from buying!
i havent bought so much though...

to be honest..i have no idea where my money went!
haha sorry i feel like im talking to myself right now.
but i really dont know where it goes!
mostly food, i guess.
but im starting to pack my lunches, so i guess ill save alot.
and im going to edmonton in a month, i have two paychecks inbetween
if i dont save up, then i cant shop.

omg, i think i just solved my problem.
=O

^I do a similar thing with term deposits. You get a much higher rate of interest, and it keeps you from accessing your money because it's "locked in". You can still access it if you really need it, the only penalty is they take away any interest you've learned. You can make some cashable after a few months, but you can also lock it away for a year or two and make more interest. Plus you're less likely to use it that way.

But I think you need to look at your spending. I know friends who were always broke so they got another (or better) job and they just took advantage of the extra money and spent it all anyways. Try keeping track of EVERYTHING you spend (write it down in a little notepad you can always keep in your purse) and you'll start seeing where your money is going and areas that you can cut back.

^ ill ask my bank! im with TDcanadatrust.
does anyone know off hand if they offer anything like that?
cause it would be TOTALLY wicked.

after writing this post, i kinda realized that i DO spend alot of money
on lots of crappy things.
i think id much rather save up and get like.. a GOOD bag as opposed to
5 crappy ones that break all the time.

i totally see it in a different perspective!
thanks alot guys. <3

omg, i used to be on the old f18 CONSTANTLY,and i stopped.
then i found it again..and i wonder why i ever left. =P
