As many already know, craiglist.org is a great source/site to get a hold of new/second items at a cheaper price..but do you guys also know that there are other kinds of ads such as job postings that could be reliable?

I just want to know if any of you tried..if not what do you think are the pros and cons of responding to a job that is posted on craiglist....many have not thought about this option when they look for P/T work.

For part time work it's WAY easier to find stuff there than on the other job sites (especially if you're looking at something besides retail-if you are then it's best to just go to the mall in person).

I applied and got my current job through craigslist-and my boyfriend (who works full time in an actual "career") found both his last and current job through them-and he's working for good companies. The vast majority of the postings on there are very legit. And it's updated so often that there's bound to be what you're looking for.

yeah, there's tons of jobs on there that's totally legit. in fact, one of the duties of my job at the consulting company that i work for is to post career ads on craigslist for companies that we do recruiting work for. we have ads for many different kinds of jobs from cleaning ladies who'd make just $20/hr to executive vice-president jobs with starting salaries of $120,000+.

Craigslist really is a surprisingly good source for stuff like that if you haven't had any experience with it before.

Of course, if the job descriptions sound sketchy... I'd definitely exercise some caution.

I found a job/intern description that I really want to apply to on Craigslist...but I'm not sure if it's legit and a real company. Confused

Could someone help me decide whether it's safe and if I should apply to it or not?

We are a start-up fashion company who designs clothing for stylish urban women. We are looking for an intern to help us develop our spring 2009 collection.
Some of the responsibilities are:
- Pattern making, grading, technical specs ready for production(for knits, sweaters, dresses, etc)
- knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
- Communicate with manufacture
- trend research
- etc

This is an internship position, it's a great opportunity to gain experience and there's a possibility to become a business partner.

please email and include: - experience - favorite designer - favorite brand - favorite store in Vancouver - favorite apparel company in Vancouver thanks "

^Seems legit enough. It's a fairly generic-looking ad... but it does have all the points needed for the usual job ad.

I'd say go for it.

^&^^ yeah... on second thought, I'd say "go for it" if you at least meet half of those requirements.

It's a given when they're posting job ads that there will be many people who don't meet what they need at all... and a few people who would fit it completely. Most likely, they would completely reject the people who don't meet the requirements at all... but they *may* still consider you for some other positition if you at least meet half of the requirements.

Though.. what it's asking for... "patternmaking", "communicate with manufacture", "trend research", etc... I honestly - no offense - doubt that you have the background for.

But I still say go ahead, regardless. It'll help you figure out how job hunt on craigslist. Happy

Good luck!

Thanks for answering! I guess I got a little confused...I thought that they meant that they were going to train me on how to do the responsibilities. I don't think I'll apply to it then; anyways, I should probably look for a paying job first since money is an important issue for me right now (to save up for school.)
