What is your worst travel experience? Anything from plane rides, hotels, or bad luck!
Ok mine is:
A few years back, I went to Mexico for about two weeks. It rained 12 out of 14 days! And to top it off, I got really sick. I know you should only drink bottled water there, but I was lazy one day and drank tap water. I got realllly sick from it. Plus, the plan ride home was delayed FIVE hours!!!
Please share your adventures! |

OKAY. so my mom took me to new york last march break for my sweet sixteen. we got to the airport at 5 am and waited for an hour until they told us that all flights to new york were CANCELLED because of the snow storm. i was pretty upset because i always wanted to go to nyc but i was like okay whatever we'll go another time, then these girls came up to us and said that we should fly to conneticut and then it's like an hour drive from there, so we did. we got on an 18 seater flight (TERRIFYING) and arrived in hartford, conneticut in a huuuge snow storm. our baggage got lost and we had to wait 2 hours for a cab or a limo or anything that would take us into manhattan. there were 2 university students who also needed to get there, so finally this crazy cab driver agreed to take the 4 of us there. when i say crazy i mean crazy! he was nuts... but nice i guess. he kept trying to set me up with his son. anyways, so it was 100 miles into manhattan in a snow storm, he wasn't even driving in a lane! we couldnt see a thing. so 3 and a half-ish hours later we're SO close to manhattan and the car breaks down! luckily, he was able to drive us to a train station and we took the train into manhattan. we get to our hotel and nobody has checked out because of the storm (ahhh) so they booked us in this "hip" new hotel right by times square for free. it was this like thousand dollar/night hotel and it was so cute! and we got to the front desk and the guy was soo gorgeous both me and my mom were flirting with him! by this time its about 1 in the morning and we're soo hungry, so his shift was over and he took us to this bar/restaurant next door to get something to eat which was very nice of him. hahaha. it was really fun it was just ridiculous how everything went wrong, but the next day was st patricks day so everybody was jolly and happy and we had some green beer and all was okay.
we got our luggage back the day we left! i love new york. _________________

mine's not THAT bad but: i was in mexico during christmas break... and on the flight back i was about to board the plane when one of the attendents pulled me aside and told me that my seat was broken. he said he'd give me a new one that wasn't broken and he went and changed my seat, gave me a new seat number and i got on the plane to find that the "new" seat he gave me was also BROKEN... sooo i went and talked to a stewardess who kind of freaked me out by telling me the plane was FULL... but she went outside the plane and talked to the guys who were trying to re-assign seats. They gave her a different seat number but there was already people in it...
so luckily there was one person who didnt show up for the flight and that left one empty seat for me. which was kind of too bad because i wouldnt have minded to stay an extra day. haha oh well.

I don't have intense horror stories, cause I don't travel that often... because I can't stand travelling =] But yeah, I remember as a kid, every year we'd go up to the cottage, which was like a 5-hour drive, and I'd constantly get carsick.
Then in 2002, my mom wanted to go to NYC for her birthday weekend. We had to drive there. Sure enough, I got carsick. Then, I got my monthly during the first morning there. So while I'm busy upchucking in the washroom, too preoccupied by my current task to be able to defend myself, my mom's yelling at me from the doorway for 'being the worst daughter ever and ruining her birthday'. _________________ I think you're just so pleasant, I would like you for my own... |

my worst travel experience?
i went to the worst hotel in cuba, it was so ghetto. the pools werent heated or anything, we had to walk to get to a public beach and the poor cuban kids came up and begged us for our clothes, food, shoes and money. hmmm..well i got really sick there, the food was absolutely terrible. on the last day, i was drinking some fruit juice from the hotel and once i finished i noticed there were ants at the bottom of my cup. lovely, no? lol. _________________ formerly known as rubbersoul |

My nightmare trip to visit family in Georgia.
Van -> Seattle -> Portland -> Texas -> Minneapolis -> Florida -> 3hr drive to family's place in Georgia. And every flight had a 2-3 hr layover. It was such a nightmare.
Another thing was my flight to HK this summer. My friend and I ended up on different flights. I got to the airport in time for my 3AM flight and when I got up to check in was told "um....you're not on this flight". I had a total panic attack because my friend was supposed to pick me up at the HK airport and I had to start classes in a couple of days at the university. THANKFULLY the next thing she said was "Yeah, you're on the next flight at 8AM." So it all worked out in the end because I ended up on the same flight as my friend and I called my friend in HK and told her to come later. Turns out my travel agent had printed me out the wrong itinerary! |

I went to China when I was six, and my family and I were there for a month...and I was sick, for the whole month, because I was allergic to medicine that was originally prescribed to me so I got SICKER, and I was bedridden and stuck inside while my brother and dad and mom went to do all that nice touristy stuff (my grandma took care of me). And at the time, I was completely devastated that my mom forgot to pack my teddy bear, Polar, that I was just forlorn and really sad the whole trip.

On the flight back from Cuba in 2000, me and my brother got really bad earaches, from a mix of bacteria (we already had slight cases of swimmer's ear) and cabin pressure.. _________________

aww, everyone has such horrible stories I have a couple but dont really want to explain every single detail so I will tell the short story
When me and my family went to Florida we had a connecting flight and we were waiting for our luggage. We waited for like 20 minutes and realized that no other luggage was coming. Our flight was about to take off in 5 minutes. So we were running all over the airport looking for our luggage and found it in a tiny little carousel and then we literally sprinted across the airport. We were all like out of breath and had cramps because we were running so fast. Then right before we got on the plane we had to fill out this form and none of the pens were working. THen we ran on the plane and the pilot came out and he was like are you guys the weilers? He was like we almost took off without you, but we decided to wait another minute. Haha, so much for a short story.
And then in saskatoon we sat on the runway for 2 hours waiting to take off and we couldnt because of a freak storm. We then had to wait in the airport and couldnt get a hold of anyone to come and pick us up. So we ran in the pouring rain to get a cab and then go to a hotel. Oh and the only available flight was at 2 oclock in the morning. So we slept for like 4 hours and then got up. And when I got up I just threw on whatever and ended up wearing leggings and a hoodie, a cowboy hat, flipflops and big sunglasses. I didnt have time to do my hair or brush my teeth or anything. Everyone was staring at me and laughing, haha. THen my cowboy hat had wire in it and kept setting off the security alarm thing so I had to take it off and I hadnt brushed my hair so it was all over the place and all knotted. Haha, ya pretty bad. |

We all get onto the plane and are all seated. Then the captain comes over the speaker "There is a problem with the plane, we are going to have to switch planes"
Not very intense. But I ended up arriving an hour late.. _________________ in my mind I’m havin’ a pretty good time with you |

My worst travel experience was going to Kamloops in Summer. The hotel we went to was such Bull shit. The bathroom light was sooo bad I could not do my makeup because it was so dim. The shower wasn't any better. The stream of water was so slow it took about 20minutes to wash out my conditioner. when I went to dry my hair the outlets in the bathroom did not work. I was so frustrated. that was the first day. The second day I went to the mall and it was so packed with people and just weird since I wasn't use to it, it was also so hot that I got heatstroke and turned into a lobster and got red blotches all over my arms. All in all it was a crappy trip. I didn't even have to go but I thought it would be fun go figure
I think since then I have hated summer, I remember the drive home was so awesome because I had home to look forward to and the Fall came *SIGH*
such perfect weather. _________________

I just have bad luck when it comes to traveling.
Heres the super recent one that happened about two weeks ago:
On the way up to NC, when the peeps I was with got a hotel, and I had to sleep next to someone I barely knew (a female), my stomach felt sick but I thought it was nothing. So I went to the bathroom expecting to feel better. But I throw up. Which I wasn't expecting.
I go back to bed feeling a little better hoping I didn't wake anyone up. About thirty minutes later it happens again, but I didn't have as much warning, so I didn't get to shut the bathroom door. Two of the people I was with came rushing in to be barfing and gaging. I go back to bed in sweats and shaking and cold yet so hot. The one who wasn't sleeping next to me went to the closests gas station and got me a Sprite. About thirty minutes later it happens again, with less warning so I throw up my stomach acid all over the floor. And gag in the toilet. This happens about ten more times--only it got to the point where I just got a bucket and leaned over and threw into that. This went on for about five hours every thirty minutes I would turn over on my other side feeling suddenly dizzy and then throw up. My back hurt sooooo much the next day: when we got to camp.
Then over the next two weeks at the camp (where I wasn't a camper) people I didn't even know asked me how I was feeling.
When they would meet me they would say something like, "Oh, yeah I heard about your trip up. Did you get better?" It was soooo embarassing. _________________
