Okay, well I don't know what I should do for a job this summer. I basically have two different choices - I keep working at my current part-time job at Linens n' Things or I go back to the summer job I had last year with the city of calgary, at a cemetery.
Note that I am going to college next year so I want to save up more money -- I have $4500 saved up personally .. and my parents will be paying for tuition and residence
Okay, I will weigh the pros and cons of each job:
Linens n' Things
PROS:
-I really like this job
-Great co-workers
-Great manager
-$9.00 an hour
-I can set my hours
CONS:
-pay is just okay
-Kind of boring job
-Sometimes can get really stressful!
-Deal with people all day (not necessarily a con but if I work full time I know I would get tired of it)
City job
PROS:
-work outside all day
-pay is great ($17.00 an hour)
-I can get exercise
-really, really slack
-Get to drive around a golf cart yea yea
CONS:
-work outside all day
-long days
-can get really, really boring
-coworkers are OK.. most are a lot older then me
-my ex may be working with me..
-i was usually quite tired after work
-didnt love this job.
SO, I just want an outsiders point of view because right now I am really conflicted. What do you think I should do??? |

I think it's good that you've came up with the pros and cons. Now all you need to do is thinking about the category and their priorities. For example, list out a table with headers such as pay, environment, advance for future, etc and then put the answer underneath. And then place the categories in their importance to you. For example, is the pay more important than the flexibility of hours? After you've done all of that, look at the list and you should have the answer. It'll be a great idea to ask your parents about it as well.
p.s. I know how you feel cuz I was in this situation before quite a few times. |

agreeing with exactly what jazuresky said!
It really depends on what you want and your goals are. If you're just looking to earn money, then I would suggest the cemetary goal. But if you're looking to enjoy yourself (since its your last year before college), then perhaps you should consider staying where you are so you can spend more time with your friends and family. _________________ used to be 'sw33tlilhugz' on the old f18. you're going to do full time, right?
if possible, i'd say do 2 part time jobs instead.
that way you get to keep the job you ahve now, which you like, and the cemetary one, which pays more =) _________________ formerly sugarr

well if you don't mind the cemetary job, i'd go for taht one.
like you said, you're trying to save up money, and that's pretty much a quick fix - it's just for summertime anyways, imo. _________________ formerly sugarr
