I have a semi- formal dance coming up, and i have no idea what to wear. I was thinking of wearing black. Would a dress be too formal?? Any suggestions would help!!: )

^^^i think that wearing a dress to a semi-formal dance would be totally appropriate...as long as the dress you're wearing isnt like a prom/wedding dress.
and i suggest that you definitely check out costa blanca...they have really cute dresses and are a decent price so if you're just wearing this dress once, it wont be a waste of money. you can go to their website to look at the dresses they have before going to the store: www.costablanca.ca

I agree with the dress thing. If you want to wear a dress then go ahead and wear it, just make sure its not too fancy. Gap has some cute dresses right now actually.

^There's one on Broadway and on like West 34th street (I think, not extremely familiar with the city). Then there is one or two in Staten Island.

check ardene, they had some when I last checked.
maybe le chateau too...

I think a navy pleated skirt and a white blouse would look cute.
flats or slouchy boots as I call them would be nice too.

^ I'm sure that wearing semi-formal, even casual clothing would be fine, as long as it doesn't look messy. Messy as in...NO ripped jeans, flip flops (although I can't really imagine anyone wearing that kind of footwear in this kind of temperature), dirty runners or sneakers, etc. If you have a nice, simple dress, you could probably wear that with tights and flats or boots and I'm sure that would be fine.

what should I wear for a nice brunch at a "secret location"?
(its for my dad's birthday, and my aunt doesnt want him to find out where it is so no one is telling me...)
I am pretty sure it will be semi-formal though.

^Maybe a cute cardigan over a nice empire waist dress (with or without tights) and flats/heels. Or you could go with a long-sleeve dress that flares out at either the top of the bust or under the bust.
And for accessories...that depends on what dress you choose (e.g. a solid-coloured dress, a dress with jewels/sequins, a printed dress, etc.) but make sure you don't overaccessorize!
Semi-formal parties are so hard to figure out to wear (in my opinion) because you don't want to be overdressed...but you don't want to be underdressed. I say that you should call up or talk to your aunt and try to find out details about the dress code, even if she won't tell you where the brunch is. Have fun at the party and happy (early?) birthday to your dad! (:

thanks! yeah I think a dress with accessories like that would actually be the perfect way to go.

What should I wear to California? I'm going March Break.. it's supposed to be around 20 degrees celsius, and I'm really stuck on what shoes to wear, my runners are too small and I don't really want to buy another pair because i rarely wear sneakers anyway. Any other ideas?

^Cool, where in Cali are you going?! I'm gonna be in San Francisco over March break Happy

I definitely think flip flops would be perfect. Also flats and maybe sandals..not the dressy ones with heels..the more boho type ones.. like gladiator sandals or the braided ones. UO has tons of examples..

^ I def. agree. Flip flops are pretty much a go in Cali, so bring those for sure and I'm pretty sure 20 degrees will be warm enough to wear them. I was also going to suggest flats, I NEVER put mine away unless it's snowing outside, and they are a great alternative to completely baring your feet.

If you are going to be doing lots of touristy stuff and will be walking a lot, you'd probably want some shoes that don't necessarily sacrifice cushioning and support. I really like Keds flats, I wear them to work as a cashier (and that involves me standing for 8.5 hours!) and they are much easier on my feet than regular flats.
