Well, I adore Audrey Hepburn, but it's not her style that I idolize - it's her. Not only was she stylish (she had to be if she was Givenchy's muse), but she did it differently than others. While the other actresses of that time were rather busty and sex icons (Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot), she was beautiful in a different way. She was thin, hardly any breasts and yet men still adored her... she had an innocent flair to everything she did and wore. ("I am not stacked like Sophia Loren or Gina Lollobrigida, but I don't need a bedroom to prove my womanliness.") Plus her thick eyebrows were totally risque. I think she is such a style icon because she did everything with elegance and taste - not merely sex appeal.
Interesting fact in relation to this: Capote wanted Monroe to play Holly Golightly (sex kitten by far) in the infamous Breakfast at Tiffany's... Hepburn however played the role and said that it was the best thing she had ever done (clearly, judging by its popularity and Oscar nominations) because it was the hardest thing she had ever done, it was so out of character for her.
What we often forget or are unaware of about Audrey is that she did a lot of work with the less fortunate. She died in 1993 due to cancer (I believe?). Because she spent the last years of her life volunteering in Somalia, surgery came too late and was unsuccessful. Angelina has nothing on Audrey for humanitarianism... she was named global Unicef ambassador and was one of the first celebrity humanitarians. So I adolize Audrey for her selflessness and poise... not fashion sense.
Okay, I'm done (promise).

| a lot of models have AWESOME style...i mean, c'mon, they get free stuff from designers! but lately i've been loving jessica stam and caroline trentini's style, it's so simple and looks like it was totally thrown together but looks great anyways. |
