Can anybody suggest some horror books, please? I'm looking for something that will pretty much scare the hell out of me. Yet, I am picky... There are some things that I find too cliche, that I just won't enjoy. Like, I won't read anything by Stephen King, I won't read anything if it's non-fiction, and I won't read anything if it's heavily based on detective/police work (I find it lame). And I probably couldn't get into any vampire/werewolf/zombie stuff, either.

But if you guys know of stuff that involves the supernatural, occult, etc, that's a bonus. Thanks in advance!

Not totally horror like modern day, but you may like

"The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson.

It defentatly creeped me out.
Yeah, Stephen King is sort of overrated.

John Saul wrote books that scared ze shizz out of me. I read Suffer the Children and Unloved. Creepy, creepy. But a bit on the addicting side, just because it's so twisted, the story lines.
