I don't know if that's what I have at all but, something like it has been bothering me since the beginning of November. Two weeks earlier, a boy in my class threw up in the garbage at the back of the classroom. That was mid October. For the past two months, I have constantly feared vomiting. I can't sit in a quiet classroom without thinking about it. A bit of noise often helps distract me from it. In assemblies, I fear vomiting in front of everyone. I find myself searching for a seat close to the exit or on the end. I worried when I went to the IMAX theatre. I worry at restaurants. I feel better sitting near the back of a classroom near a door. I am always ok at work where I'm busy and can move around at my own free will. I find myself having to know where the bathrooms are.
I haven't thrown up since grade 8, and that was because I ate cake and a red slushie which didn't go too well together. In grade 6 I got really sick at camp. Grade 3 I got the flu, kindergarten I threw up all over my bed. Those are the only times I remember.
I'm not really worried about getting sick or getting germs from people. But I know it's mentally exhausting to be worrying all the time.
I don't know if I am the only person who worries about things like this. I know most people wouldn't want to throw up at school or in a public place. I think it's just the time of year and the stress of school and marks and Christmas are actually making me nauseous, and that's when I start to worry.
I'm not really looking for help or anything but I'm just wondering if anyone else shares my worries... lol thanks for reading haha _________________

I haven't experienced it...but my teacher from grade six did kinda.
she was paranoid of always washing her hands because her sister when she was younger passed away to some disease dealing with cleanliness. I'm not sure if she's completely over it now...but she did say that she stopped obsessing about it so much (over time). _________________ used to be 'sw33tlilhugz' on the old f18. (; |

i had the exact thing! thats so weird i never thought anyone else did. Except i struggled with mine for like 3 years? Pretty much whenever i was in a public place that i was uncomfortable in. Classes where i didn't have my close friends to distract me, school meetings in the gym, car rides with other peoples parents driving, sleeping over at an unfamiliar house, restaurants. It was brutal. But i'm pretty sure a lot of it was psychological, i was always thinking about it so eventually it became a habit for me...which really sucked. It actually got better as i gained confidence, i had less to stress about, and i just didn't care about other people, or being in an awkward situation like i used to so eventually it completely went away.
I don't know if yours is caused by the same thing, or will go away for the same reason but take comfort in the fact that yes someone esle dealt with it and better yet got over it!!! _________________

i think you should confront your fear, it sounds a bit obsessive but dont worry i know TONS of people that are scared of throwing up. me, i throw up every month when my cramps are bad. i used to fear it, but like honestly its unpleasant but its really not as big of a deal as youve pyschologically made it. i dont know if i can really help..i hope i did though! _________________ formerly known as rubbersoul |

I hate vomiting. I would do anything to stop it. I would rather try to swallow it if it feels like it's coming up my throat (but once it's in my mouth I'd just spit it out). I avoid certain foods at certain times of the day, and I can't stand seeing or hearing people puke. It makes me want to too. And people I know who are prone to puking often, I'm especially cautious around them.
But my emetaphobia isn't as harsh as it was 3 years ago, I used to bring Gravol/seasick bracelets/hot water bottles/plastic bags everywhere and refused to eat fast food or in the car (so on trips to Toronto I ate only sticky rice, if anything). I'd talk about it and everything.
I still think it's the worst feeling ever so you know what, I'm with ya. Just as long as you don't miss out on the good stuff like roller coasters =D. |

Is it because of stress? What causes it?
There was only this one time, in Grade 7 this girl threw up in the middle of class, it could've been the first day of school. In Grade 10 this girl fainted in sex ed. class, and the teacher wasn't talking about anything explicit. I think it could be because you might be overexcited during or right after you've had lunch, and then you sit down in a boring class, and maybe you have all this energy in you and that's why you feel a bit queasy...
But I'm not scared of vomiting, for me it's a *motion sickness* thing, not stress.
I feel motion sickness in cars, like even after 10 minutes I just feel the worst headaches, I have to stop long car rides to take a break and that. I can't deal with those tour bus rides, I'll vomit for sure so I have to bring a bag.
It helps to either fall asleep, close your eyes, listen to music or definitely open the window for some air.
If I suddenly get emotionally stressed I like start crying and can't stop the tears, even if it's a stupid out of nowhere thing. _________________

I kind of have something like that, except with my leg. Probably a few times a year i will wake up in the middle of the night, and my leg will go into a spasm and its probably the worst feeling i have ever had. I had a bad one a few months ago and I have been afraid to go to sleep, because im worried it will happen again. But lately i just think, the worst that will happen is it will hurt for a bit, but then it will be over with.
so i guess its not too close to your story
but i would try to just remember that if it does happen, its will be over with soon, and you shouldnt spend too much time worrying about what you cant control. my dad has only thrown up twice in his life, maybe you will be like that!
and wash your hands and avoid foods that make you feel sick just to be careful
good luck! _________________ *parting is such sweet sorrow*

thanks guys!
i think it comes from stress
it has stopped for now! i think i kind of did just accept it, and i try to keep myself from thinking about it. it's so strange but it's true. now i just try to get as much sleep as i can and get things done early so i'm not stressed. _________________
