Accessorize pulls out of Canadian market

I'm not sure if many of you shop there (judging by the numbers it doesn't seem so! lol) but Accessorize is going to be closing all of their shops across Canada. Victoria and Markham stores closed on Wednesday, all other BC/Alberta stores closed yesterday, and stores in Toronto/Ottawa will stay open for a month or two longer in order to sell off all remaining stock.
The woman who owns the company has been putting a lot of her time into charity work for women's rights and she tried to find a buyer to help get the company out of the hole (they've been losing millions since they opened apparently) but the buyer couldn't come to terms with Monsoon (the parent company of Accessorize in the UK). It's too bad because she sold The Body Shop Canada to start this up-and now it's completely flopped.
So if you live in Toronto/Ottawa and love the store be sure to stock up since you won't be able to get any Accessorize items in Canada anymore! (I'm sure everything will be marked down quite a lot).

I'm pretty sad to hear this...as you guys probably know I've worked there for over a year and a half now and I really loved my job and my coworkers. We were all completely shocked yesterday-I just got a call from some guy saying he was in charge of the store now and he needed my key back. When I asked why he told me that all the stores across Canada were closed as of yesterday. Even my manager had no idea-she was called in this morning for an emergency conference call while my other coworker was already at work getting ready for the day. It was so sad to go to the mall and see the shop all boarded up Sad

aw =( that was such a cute store!! we don't have one here.. but when i made the trek up to toronto, i would stop by. i'm sorry you lost your job, but i'm sure you'll find another one with just as nice of people =) good luck!

^Thanks! It's too bad though because I think they really filled a gap in the accessory market in Canada-something between Claires and the really high end stuff. The stuff wasn't super cheap but it was reasonable and really stylish/trendy. Now I'm not sure where to buy accessories anymore! lol

^Yeah Diva went under really quickly-I was surprised! They really didn't seem to stick around for very long which is too bad.

Yeah, on Canada day there was a sale, everything was about 2$. I asked one of the sales associates is they were closing down and she said no, they were just sellling overstock. It's too bad because they did have nice stuff.
Iève never bougt anything at Accessorize, so I'm not that sad that they are leaving

Aww, that sucks. Ya, it was weird cause diva came into the mall for like a couple of months and then it was shut down and now there is a tea store in its place, kinda weird if you ask me Confused

aww man. i never bought anything from the store but yesterday i was at the mall i was actually trying to find it...and when i finally found it, they had brown paper covering the windows =(

i liked diva.. are there even any left?
i know the metrotown one closed down ebcuase the owner didn't pay the rent or something (the girl who always worked there was pissed lol)
but i havent seen any around anymore..

yeah i was at the queen st w. store the day before it closed and there were a bunch of people in there and they had huge signs saying 70% off, but I didn't know they were closing! I passed by the next day and everything was gone from the store but the signs are still up..

I liked their earrings too they were cute!! too bad I didn't buy anything that day cause i didn't have enough money with me Sad
