I am what you could call a technologically challenged person so I am a little confused and unsure.
Someone might give me a phone as a gift
I can currently 1.5 years through a 3 year plan with Telus
Then phone that may be given to me would also be from Telus
I currently have a LG 200 and am wanting to switch to the HTC S720
Is there anyway I can keep my plan and carrier but switch cell phones? _________________ if you were a melody,

I'm not the best person to answer about technology but from what I know you can just stick your SIM card in that phone and it should work. I'm not sure if there will be an activation cost or anything like that.
I know my friend has 2 cellphones: her old on and her new one. And when her old one broke she just stuck her SIM card in her old phone and it worked. So I'm thinking this would be like doing the same thing. _________________

Yeah if you just put the sim card in it will work.
I've done it on my brother's phone when my battery died and I needed to take a cell with me.
Since they're both from the same carrier you won't need to unlock anything. _________________

| Correct me if I'm wrong, but Telus is the only cell phone service provider that DOESN'T use sim cards I believe, so you can't really transfer your card (and keep the same plan).. |

| Ya telus doesnt use SIM cards. You can switch phones and keep your plan but there will probably be some sort of fee or they will want you to redo your contract and tack on another 3 years! |

Sp if they're not from the same carrier, you have to get it unlocked first? _________________

Yeah, the carrier usually locks it so it can only be used with their service.
You can find unlock codes on the internet.. it's fairly easy to do. _________________
