The wrath of stubborn thighs. Aiyaa.

Anywhoos. I went to the YMCA on Friday and worked out for a little under 2 hours. I love how you can watch TV on the elipticals(sp?). I enjoyed watching Full House while working out. Hehehehehe.

What are some equipment that you can go on in the gym that can workout/tone your thighs?

^ that stepper things??? wow i don't know what its called, but its an exercise machine that is basically like you're walking up A LOT of stairs and that one works your but and legs.

I've been making sure to eat 3 meals a day with 2 snacks in between and so far its been going really well. I actually find that i'm not really as hungry as i imagines i would have been.

The exercies have been focusing on my butt and legs. My legs definatly feel more toned, and my butt is in a lot of pain today from the work outs.

^^There's this thing at my gym called the Arc Trainer. It is seriously the exercise equipment of the heavens. There are different handles you can hold on to for different areas of the legs (I always hold onto the one targeting the calves so I have killer calves now) and its kind of like an elliptical but BETTER.

It can burn like 250 calories in 15 minutes, no joke (I would know, I am on it for like 40 minutes, lol).

It looks like this (so look for this in the gym):

I go to a small gym but they have 8 of them and they are always taken!

^wow, that sounds amazing! I wanna try it but I don't know where I can apply for a gym membership that will have the Arc Trainer and whether I can go there by myself (I'm only turning 15 this month).

and congratulations on everyone for exercising! i havent actually got around to it yet...but I want to start doing at least 100 jumping jacks each day if I can find the time. Confused But I really want to try that Arc Trainer!

^yay! for you being able to eat more healthy (I cannot seem to do that at all Sad )

I looked over the two closest community centres to me and none of them have an Arc Trainer. Confused Is there another machine/exercise that can result in killer calves/legs too? Because I know that there are some forms of exercising that can give you bulky thighs/calves and I'm really scared of getting that...do you think that biking will be good for it?

^^ i think someone told me biking will bulk you up BUT i was into leisure biking in the summer, nothing too drastic and my legs toned up and i didn't notice any bulking

OHH man i had a horrible day for eating!! haha
everyone keeps bringing treats to work soo i kinda maybe ate way too many cookies and a donut..or two..AH omg hahaha wow.
But i guess the plus side was my stomach was so horribly upset that all i could manage to eat for dinner was a cup of peppermint tea.

tomorrow is another day haha

treecow: The YMCA by Langara has them. I JUST saw the picture today, and I remembered seeing two of them when I went to work out before!!

And gahh..... it's kinda pricey for drop-ins at the Y. ) : That's why I want to get a monthly pass. The thing is, my parents don't want to "pay" for it. I said I'd pay for it, but I need like, a Visa or something... I forgot why, but then yeah..... and my parents don't want to go there... so pooo. This sucks.. =T

^thanks for telling me! but aw, i live kinda far away from langara so that sucks. Confused so even if I were to go, I would only be able to go on Saturdays so I don't know how effective it would be...and do you by chance know around how much it is for just drop-in?

^ I feel it's a bit too far for me as well, yet I go anyway, because I'm keen on shedding a few pounds before I go away to Alberta for a week. :P

But anywhoos! Drop in is 10$, and if you go after 5? *not sure what time*, but if you go after 5 on Fridays, then it's 5$, teen night or something like that. If you can, go try it out, cause according to the duude there, if you want to buy a membership, just give them the past receipts of when you dropped in, and they'll deduct it from the membership fee.

Lucky for me, I dropped in enough that when I actually GO to sign up for a membership, it'll be free or only a few dollars. Very Happy

I just checked their website and it said that drop-in for adults (16+) is $10 but then I'm part of the youth (15 and under) and that price is $5.
And I don't know if I want to spend so much money for it because if I go there, there's a high chance that the Arc Trainers will already be taken and I'm really going mainly to try it. Confused

^good thing is you probably worked off all the calories and fat from the cookies from your exercising! Cool I wanna eat cookies now. Sad

And I've decided that I might go to the YMCA by Langara during the winter holidays (if I don't get a job) to work out a few times during the week. But I'm really hoping to get a job because either way, I'll probably still lose weight since if I get a job, I'll be too busy to be bored so I won't eat snacks excessively. Razz

^I used to watch the biggest loser! Congratulations on joining a yoga class, especially with your friend! Exercising is usually more fun and motivating when you're with a friend. I wanted to join a yoga class too...but it's too expensive for me at the moment.

I ate a lot of cookies... Mad

I went biking this afternoon for around 45 minutes and there was slush/snow! When I went out, I didnt even know that it had snowed but I went biking anyways and it was hard to bike in those areas with a lot of slush (really slippery!) But I'm just glad that I actually went out and biked.

And, I did 100 situps/crunches last night before I went to bed so I'm going to try to do that around 2 or 3 times per week.

Totally jumping on board!

Okay, new years resolution? Go down to 135 by summer, which gives me twenty pounds in six months, 4 pounds a month, one pound a week. I'm asking for a gym membership for christmas...there isn't much I can do around the house. Even if I can't lose all that weight, I want a 25 inch waistline (it's at 29 right now).

^16, I was 155, now I'm about 139, I was 135 (20 pounds down) two weeks ago but I've been BAD diet-wise lately. I'm looking to get down to 125 by April so I need to kick my diet into high gear in the new year!

I would kill for a 25 inch waistline too, I'm at around a 28/29 at the moment, it tends to fluctuate. What really sucks is that about a year and a half ago, I was around 120 and I was around a 23 (actually really on the thin side) but I quit skating and gained around 30 pounds... Icon_wrong

I have a really small frame so all this extra weight is doing me absolutely no good.

ANYWAYS...

I'm overall looking to get down from my current measurements, 34-28.5-37 to around a super toned 33-24-34...

If anyone plans to make losing weight their resolution what are your goals in weight loss/inch loss?

^ my goal is to lose around 5-10 pounds before april, because that's when our geo trip, prom, and when I have to start getting my measurements done for my dress, because I'm getting my dress custom made for my 18th birthday, and i want to be a bit slimmer by then. ( :

i FINALLY got my parents to get me a pass for the YMCA, so now I'm going to go there after school and/our during my free block. Hehehehe.

And I feel really good about myself, I've been eating a bit healthier before. I've been eating a lot more fruits this winter. It's maybe because my mom got a whole bunch of those small oranges or madarines... whatever they are, and theyre wayyy easier to peel. HEHEHEHE. ^^v

I'm hoping to lose around 10-20 pounds by the early summer (June or July) so I'd be down to 95-103 pounds. And for inches, I would like my waist to be around 26 inches and my hips to be 34/35 inches. Now I just have to get motivated enough to actually start working out. Sad
So in order to achieve my weight goal, I'd have to lose around 3 or 4 pounds a month. Neutral

Wee! I feel good about myself this week. I've been eating healtier... than usual. (I bought food from the schoo cafe >< ) Plus, I worked out twice this week after school *cause i was busy with practice =T*, AND today I did quite a bit of dancing since it's my cousin's birthday. Soo tired though; walked around in heels from 530 til midnight ><

And then, I'll be working out on Monday with a friend since her school's near the Y, and I have my monthly pass. ( :

How are you gals coming along?

Crap. I'm 105 lbs. I will literally be overweight for my height if I surpass that, even by a pound. My ideal weight is supposed to be 95 lbs, which is what I was LAST year.
So I'm going to try to get down to that at the LEAST... but if I could have it any way I'm hoping to get down to 90 by the time summer arrives.
So I'm going to get into the DDR routine (that's how I used to maintain my lower weight) and try the whole 100 crunches/night thing. If a friend goes to the gym, I'll go with her.
As soon as the weather warms up (which won't be too far ahead I bet Icon_XP) then I'll also get into the habit of jogging/bike riding for at least a half hour.
But mainly I want to lose weight by diet. I'll stop buying crap like chocolate bars more than once a week =.=; and stop eating fries and McFlurries (okay seriously I had no idea how yummy they were, I had one for the first time in over a decade two weeks ago!).
Hopefully by the end of February I'll have lost 2 lbs permanent.

Good luck guys and keep it up!

AHH!

Okay, I totally went in the wrong direction this week! I was supposed to go work out, but then I ended up getting the stomach flu, and I still feel kind of .... queasy in the stomach from time to time. *I'm supposed to be over the flu now*

But anywhoos! Okay, I worked out with my friend last week, and it was kind of long. But the thing is, I'm just scared that my fat will turn into muscle, and that kind of freaks me out, cause I'm a tiny girl, and I actually saw someone with MUSCULAR CALVES.. >< Do you think that, by walking and/or running on the treadmill, going on that step master thingy, biking to cool down, and the eliptical thingy is too much? Also, I never really got around to trying that Arc Trainer thing that someone mentioned earlier... :S

I'm just worried about getting all muscular, but I really do want to lose like, 5-10 pounds before mid-April. Also, do you think wanting to lose 5-10 pounds in less than 4 months reasonable? :S

^I don't think all those workouts are too much, I personally am a huge cardio fan and I love it.

But really, go try the Arc trainer Happy

5-10 pounds is definately reasonable. Healthily, you should be able to lose 1-2 pounds a week. So it is DEFINATELY in your reach. I myself am aiming for 130 by then Happy

I've been doing really well lately.
I stepped up the intensity of my work out by adding about 10 more minutes on the tredmill each day and double the reps for my weights.
I don't really use scales so just judging by the way my clothes have been fitting i'm seeing changes Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Lucky... I haven't been hittiing the gym as much as I hoped I would. Also, at home, I've been pretty lazy.. ><

I need something to motivate me... fitting into my jeans aren't working for me. ) :

Also, for snacks, I've been trying to eat healthier, but it's not working. IE: I eat bananas and strawberries... but then i add Cool Whip to it... -.-

okay so i was looking for one of those BMI things to see where i should be wight wise.
but those things only work for people over 18

does anyone know (for sure) what weight is healthy for 15 years old?
if you know what waist should be and stuff that would be great too.

I haven't been doing so well lately...but I'm gonna keep going. Hopefully, I'll be able to be more motivated to exercise now that the weather's getting really nice.

And congratulations _Bee_! Keep up the exercising/healthy eating and good work! (:

I also want to find a BMI thing for teens but not so much luck so far. But if I do find one, I'll be sure to post it up for you guys!

I feel kinda proud of myself today. I woke up early than I expected this morning and went out biking at around 10am. I biked/walked to my school, since there's a track there and biked seven laps, rested/stretched for a minute or so, biked six laps, rested/stretched, and biked seven laps. (: And surprisingly, I wasn't tired...but that was probably because the weather was nice and breezy (but also sunny!) Also, while I was biking, I got to watch soccer games (cute little kids!) Then, I biked/walked over to my elementary school and just roamed around the playground and garden for a few minutes, and then I biked home.
