Post any quotes that carry meaning to your life (aka to you english and drama lovers: cathartic books!)
I had one today, but I can't find my book. _________________

Just off the top of my head:
"Why this is Hell, nor am I out of it. Thinkst thou that I, who saw the face of God and tasted the eternal joy of heaven, am not tormented with ten thousand hells in being deprived of everlasting bliss?"
"The mind is its own place and in itself can make heaven of Hell and a hell of Heaven"
I wonder where these are from? _________________

I have one. But it's not from some amazing piece of literature, or have that much significance in my life. I just think it' true.
"A song can take you back instantly to a moment, a place, or even a person. No matter what else has changed in you or the world, that one song stays the same, just like that moment. Which is pretty amazing, when you actually think about it."

The quote that came to mind when I saw/read this thread doesn't really carry a meaning to life. It just puts a smile on my face and reminds me of how friends will stay with you through thick and thin.
"All for one! And one for all!"
Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers |

"The course of true love never did run smooth."
(from A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare, my favourite play of his ever!)
"She was elusive. She was today. She was tomorrow. She was the faintest scent of a cactus flower, the flitting shadow of an elf owl. We did not know what to make of her. In our minds we tried to pin her to a corkboard like a butterfly, but the pin merely went through and away she flew."

I'm trying to read this book, Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie Macdonald, and I came across this little bit and I think it's so sweet. The little dialogue is between this thirteen year old girl, and this guy, who I believe is just a few years older, and he's a piano tuner.
She smiled and said, "I'm going to marry a dentist."
...
"I'm not a dentist," he said, then rushed pink to his ears.
She smiled. And looked at the loose piano teeth scattered at his feet. _________________

Aww! Yeah, I did it for English in grade 9, and I can seriously read it over and over again...Shakespeare's comedies are waaay more entertaining than his tragedies |

"I wish I could be travelling with her, but thank God she able to do it. Sometimes I feel mad at her. Feel like I could scratch her hair right off her head. But then I think, Shug got a right to live too. She got a right to look over the world in whatever company she choose. Just cause I love her don’t take away none of her rights. The only thing bother me is she don’t never say nothing bout coming back. And I miss her. I miss her friendship so much that if she want to come back here dragging Germaine I’d make them both welcome, or die trying. Who am I to tell her who to love? My job just to love her good and true myself."
The Color Purple
"You've got to climb to the top of Mount Everest
to reach the Valley of the Dolls.
It's a brutal climb to reach that peak,
which so few have seen.
You never knew what was really up there,
but the last thing you expected to find
was the Valley of the Dolls.
You stand there, waiting for
the rush of exhiliaration
you thought you'd feel - but
it doesn't come.
You're too far away to hear the applause
and take your bows.
And there's no place left to clib.
You're alone, and
the feeling of loneliness is overpowering.
The air is so thin you can scarecely breathe.
You've made it - and the world says
you're a hero.
But it was more fun at the bottom
when you started,
with nothing more than hope and
the dream of fulfillment.
All you saw was the top of that mountain -
there was no one to tell you
about the Valley of the Dolls.
But it's different
when you reach the summit.
The elements have left you battered,
deafened, sightless - and too weary
to enjoy your victory."
Valley of the Dolls (I used to be obsessed with this quote in grade 9... it's alright) _________________

It's from a Chicken Soup Book.
At the end of some story it said:
"Don't worry about failing. Worry about the chances you miss when you don't even try."
I love this quote. It reminds me of basketball. Two years ago I use to practice so much, and I was really good. Now I barely try. If I continued practicing the same way that I did two years ago, I would've of played for my country for girls my age. _________________
