| I really want a tan, and I hate using tanning lotion because it smells weird and people always are like what is that smell when I wear it, lol. I want to try a tanning salon, but I got burnt in guatemala before really bad (like second degree burns) and so I dont want to get skin damage. I was wondering if it would be possible to wear sunscreen on my shoulders or something to protect them while tanning everything else. |

the truth is, nothing can prevent skin cancer when you go to a tanning salon. the safest way is to use tanning lotion/oil. the one from estee lauder doesn't smell at all.! _________________

| Too late! haha sorry guys, I already started going to the tanning salon. I only go for 5 minutes at a time though and every other day and then I add a minute every time. So 5 on monday, 6 on wednesday, 7 on friday and so on. Once I get a good base I wont go as often, and I know its not the greatest for you, but honestly I dont really care right now. |

| ....actually, tanning at a salon is worse for you than the actual sun. just keep that in mind, you may not care now but when you are older you may face health issues as a result, and i wouldn't want you to have any regrets. |

Tanning salons are soooooooo bad for your skin,
My mom's friend used them through her teen years and now her skin looks and feels like leather and it aged her so much.
I would suggest just wearing a lower SPF and staying in the sun. _________________ if you were a melody,

I always tell myself that I want a tan, but then I remind myself of all the adults that have hardly aged, and they all have pale skin, and then they are the 40 year old moms who look about 60 from tanning. So I think I'll just keep my natural colour, but tan a little bit or use creams in the summer. _________________

Yeah, I wouldn't go to a tanning salon. They scare me.
Here, watch this clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaT9HyKyM0E&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fgoldmakeup%2Eblogspot%2Ecom%2F
It's from a celebrity make up artist Sandy Gold and she says that sunscreen doesn't prevent you from having a tan. So wear sunscreen and go out in the sun and tan tan tan!
Also, why not try spray on tans. Those don't last as long (the tan is for about a week) but they're much better than tanning beds. _________________

^And using tanning lotions is different how?
This girl in my school is a fake tanner and you can tell. She looks.... crusty and cheap. If your skin is naturally really pale, you're not meant to have a tan. It looks horrible if you do. |

I used to be pale as a ghost but I'm not anymore... well I'm still really pale... and I love it haha.
But if I wanted to achieve the look I'd honestly just dust bronzer or something all over. |

^yea bronzer is fab.
^^I don't look crusty and fake with the tanning lotion I use. Maybe cause I don't use it very often? |

^I don't know, tanning lotions can be tricky
I used to want to be tan and bronzed. Now I want to be paler than I am right now, which would be make some people think I was crazy, because I am already really pale. I guess what I really want to get rid of is my freckles. I really don't like them, I have a lot on my cheeks and nose, but they are pale, just a bit darker than my natural skin tone, so what's the point? They aren't cute at all. |
