Alright so what goes on in this thread is that it's basically a support group for weight loss and getting healthier. A lot of people find it more motivationg and encouraging to have more people doing what they're trying to do..in this case healthy weight loss. Let me emphasis HEALTHY weight loss, the whole idea of starving yourself or throwing up..well you're doing a lot more harm then good, and you'll pay for it later.

So basically you can just use this as an online log, keeping track of your progress, and what you've been doing to get where you are, or where you want to be...basically your goals

I'll start.

so, i got a gym pass for christmas so i've been going to the gym two times a week (although i couldn't this week because of a snow storm) but i've already noticed differences after two weeks, my legs are a bit more toned and my arms are stronger. I was also reading about different foods that can help your skin/mood/fitness so i'm extremely interested in that and i'll definatly look more into it.
As for my goals, i'm ok with my weight although i'd like to lose the 5-10 pounds i gained at christmas, but mostly i just want to tone up!
I've been doing this hilarious but amazingly fun work out/dance video about 3 times a week, as well as 30 minutes of running 2 a week, with sit ups and leg lifts in the mix, so far it's going well.

How about you guys?

hmmm okay well im not doing as well as you as far as the gym goes ^
first of all i do have a pass to the YMCA but the only way i get there is with my mom, cause none of my friends want to Sad
so i havent gone for a week

* also for long term, i boguht a pedometer that counts steps and calories burned so this summer im goign to walk around my neighborhood ALOT
but i started hula hooping(im a pro Happy ) and i googled online and found that if you do it for a certain amount of time each day you will start to lose fat around your waist

well i made my lunch for school which is tomorow: plastic container of yogurt with granola, and another plastic container with a salad made of pepper and cucumber" and then i usually just have water during the day
I also made snack for afterschool of cut up apples so that i dont eat the cookies at my house
- its also in a plastic container so i can eat it while i study

( im buying an ultra cute hot pink waterbottle on the weekend so i will be more inclined to drink more water!)

^ whats the dance video you have? i totally want to get into dancing as excercise but it woudl be great if i had a video to use, whats yours called?

PS: my weight pretty much is good, i just want thinner thighs, since the rest of my body is pretty skinny

I'm reeeeally gonna have to start excercising. I'll probably start out with 15 minutes/day of cardio for 2-3 times a week and then I'll gradually excercise more. I'm also going to do 25 situps in the morning and 25 at night and like the running, I'll gradually do more each day/week. And because of what shopaholicxox said about hula hoops, I might start doing that too if I can find a hula hoop around the house. :icon_yahoo: I'd like to lose about 5-15lbs. and lose all or most of the fat around my stomach and make my legs slimmer by springtime or early summer. And I'll jump up and down at least 50 times a day so maybe, hopefully I can grow taller. 8)

the video...i don't know what it's called but i do know its an 80's tape i picked up at a thrift store for like a buck, and you dance for like 20 minutes, then it has other stuff haha i love it. Seriously just go to a thrift store and you'll find exercise videos and a lot of them are crazy fun.

I'll be a diet buddy too!

I just got a gym membership and I'm going 3-4 times a week. I'm looking to lose fifteen to twenty pounds (I've seriously gained that much since around November) and really tone up =].

dumdeedumm. all the things i said i was going to do a few posts before, i never did. -.-
but today, i ran 1.75 miles(7 laps on a 400m track) in 15 minutes and 45 seconds on the treadmill nonstop. i started out at 6.5mph for five minutes and then went up to 7.5mph for another five minutes. after that, i ran at 8.5mph until i reached 1.5 miles and then i walked for the last .25 miles to cool down. 8) and im gonna run like that again now except a little faster. i found that listening to music while running helped me stay more on focus rather than watching tv while running. Very Happy
good luck to all of you! :icon_yahoo:

^ how has it been????
I have been slacking lol.
But a few months ago I injured myself..and I haven't been allowed to run. But I'm slowly getting back into things now. Running still hurts though, so I am planning to bike for 30 minutes every day (except soccer saturdays!)

so i've been doing really well with getting enough excercise in, but its just soooo hard to eat well. i mean, i dont eat extremley poorly or anything. but i usually end up eating between 1-2 'bad' things a day. if i am trying to be healthy, how much junk food per week should i really be eating?

There's a site called www.fitday.com, where you can record what you ate that day, your goals, and what you did to exercise. It's really convenient for me, and I record down what I eat every day to keep track (btw I'm TOTALLY not trying to advertise here lol).

Anyways I'm trying to eat 1200 calories diet a day, and exercise more!! Also to start walking home, for more exercise.

^ hey thanks! i got a free account there and even though some of the foods are hard to determine if its the same one your eating, at least you can customize the food that you eat and then add it to your total food intake of the day
its really making me realize how much calories im having haha and i know where to cut down on the fat area!

hey, no one has really used this topic for a while...but i was hoping that we could start it up again.
i really want to lose some weight and fat and become more active but i can never get motivated enough to exercise regularly. i think that if i had a serious exercise buddy encouraging me (and vice versa), then maybe i could become motivated to excercise more and hopefully lose my extra weight/fat by christmastime. so does anyone who is seriously trying to manage their weight want to be exercise buddies with me?

oh boy i haven't looked at this thread in a verrry long time. I just revently got really into working out again. In cosmo girl magazines they have small at home work out sessions, about 5-10 minutes long and i've been doing them for about 2 or 3 weeks now. Definatly a difference especailly in my arms and legs!
Christmas is coming...along with those cravings that i tend to dive into so i'd like to get into a healthy eating pattern as well. I'm in the habit of making smoothies for my breakfast which are deliciouss!!! then a small low calories snack a few hours later..like yogurt and grapes. then for lunch a sandwich on whole wheat with another snack...like a granoloa bar or an orange. For dinner - well thats my weakest point because i loooooove pastas, definatly need to cut down on those...

Urgh I won a free membership to a gym from a ballot last Christmas Igave them, and they just called. So I'm like really pumped cause I would LOVE to go to the gym except that it's far. The thing is, I'm 16 so I need a GUARDIAN with me there. yeah that's right. For Premier Fitness I need a friggen guardian with me cause I'm not 18. like if my parents were active, I wouldn't need to go to the gym cause I'd be active too. And it's not even that I need to go there, I just want to become more fit. So I'm frustrated cause I have this free membership here and then I'll need mom to get one just so I can freaking go. Neutral
maybe i'll write them an email and complain .

anyone wanna be my fitness buddy? Very Happy

I bought jeans, but then when I tried them on, they were too tight! Also, I've been noticing that when I wear jeans, they look kind of tight because of my thighs, so I'm aiming to tone my thighs AND lose some weight.

In away, that's my motivation - to fit into my jeans. I've been trying to eat 3 meals a day with healthy snacks in between, and also I've been cutting down on junkies after school and during school. Also, I've been doing some workout exercises you can do at home. I read it in seventeen, and yeah, I've been doing them on and off. *which isnt good.*

I want to get a membership at YMCA; I've been there for a drop in once, and it was pretty stellar, so I'm kind of convinced of getting a membership there. It's not THAT far, and ther are more equipment ther, than in the community centre near my place. Only thing is, I feel kind of selfconcious going there and working out by myself, especially since I can only go after school, and I'd have my big backpack with me. :S

I try to walk home and play DDR more at home, and I noticed a difference at first, but now, I'm not sure...
Boy do I need a big boost of encouragement and motivation.. =T

^I will! I have had a lot of trouble staying motivated too! But I want to try to do yoga at home and run on the treadmill as well. My thighs are bigger too and I don't like it. Sad So I want to lose some fat, become stronger and more flexible, and be healthier overall.

haha we all have the same problem...our thieghs. I want to go jean shopping but i refuse to until i fit properly back into my old size so my goal is to be back in shape in time for the new year....ugh this is such a crappy time to have to exercise and watch what you eat...right around christmas..

But today has started good, i woke up did 75 jumping jacks, 12 push ups and some stretches and i had a fruit smoothie for breakfast...
