I'm not sure if I can start a new post for this but here goes.
I have my first interview ever on Friday and I am reeeaalllly nervous...like super nervous.
It's for a seasonal job at the mall as a customer service person selling the gift certificates.
I have an outfit in mind but I'm not sure if it'll be appropriate. I was planning on wearing a babydoll black top with a purple long sleeve cardigan over it (unbuttoned); black pants with subtle fushia pinstripes; a grey and pink/orange/yellow printed bag; and black wedged boots underneath the pants (so I will look taller, therefore maybe older?). What do you guys think of that and should I change anything with it?
And I have no idea what type of questions they're going to ask me. Does anyone know which ones are the most common questions for employers to ask during interviews? And I don't know if I should do research on the whole mall or just not do that.
And I need some tips on how to be confident and not show how nervous I am during the interview...any help please?
Oh, one more thing! I know it's good to ask her some questions but I don't know what type.
hehe, one additional last question for sure...if I have to tell her about myself, what types of stuff do I tell her?
thank you so much to anyone who reads this because i know it's really really long! _________________ used to be 'sw33tlilhugz' on the old f18. (; |

Don't be overly nervous! Be confident, and it'll show through in your interview.
It's hard for me to envision your outfit, but for my interviews I usually just stick with a simple shirt with a fitted blazer, dark-wash jeans and flats (I'm pretty tall, so no heels for me). From the past tips I've gotten from F18, don't overdo the make up, don't wear any perfume just deoderant, and no open-toed shoes.
The one you are DEFINITELY going to be asked is "Why do you want to work here?". This is one of those questions that are easy to prepare for, and remember your answer for it but don't make it sound rehearsed. Also, "Tell me your strengths and weaknesses" and "Tell me about yourself" and scenario questions are pretty common as well.
It's usually good to do some research behind the company, but for your job I'm not sure whether that's necessary...
SMILE! Don't fidget, and you'll feel a lot better. Just relax and don't put too much pressure on yourself - take your time to answer a question, but don't let silences stretch out forever. OCCASIONAL Um's and uh's are okay, but too many of them is definintely not good. Have good eye contact, but don't stare her down. If you smile, the interview will go well.
If you have to tell her about yourself (which you probably will), talk about what grade you're in at which school, which courses you're currently taking, what kind of activities you do and enjoy, and what you plan to pursue as a career once you're finished school.
Good luck on your interview!! _________________

I think the best thing to do is to really just not be nervous -- they would way rather someone very confident and poised who maybe has to think a minute before answer questions then someone who is really nervous and anxious and has rehearsed answers!
But, don't worry it is completely normal to be freaking out before your first interview. I was! But on my second I knew better and I was a lot better.
Anyway, just think beforehand about the basic questions they will probably ask you:
-Why do you want to work here
-"tell me about yourself" (say your age, school, interests, some characteristics)
-What is your greatest accomplishment
-What did you learn from your last job (or volunteer thing, or babysitting, etc) and how will it help you working here?
Those are the basic ones.
Just remember to not be nervous, when you are nervous it is very hard to think about answers to their questions. And it doesn't sounds like it will really be a hard interview, for a seasonal job at a mall stand. Most places screen people through resumes and then have an interview to make sure you are not a social freak or something, lol.
Your outfit sounds great, btw.
Good luck! |

thank you so much! so i went and i was super nervous...but somehow, i don't think it showed. however, she told me more about the job and it wasnt anything like what it described on the website. and she (the interviewer) said that she's going to call me for a second interview with another lady...but i secretly hope she won't call because i dont like the job she describe that i would have to do.
i still want to work at aqua la vie en rose...but i havent applied there...but i really meant to since they're hiring. _________________ used to be 'sw33tlilhugz' on the old f18. (; |
