T_T...

I don't know how long it's been

but it feels like forever.

For those of you not in Vancouver, there's been like this.. 9-10 week strike involving the city workers, community centres, libraries and some parks.

T_T it's pissing me off.

x_x WHEN WILL IT BE OVERR???

oh mon dieu~

i know! it sucks but my mom said that the strike is ending soon because even though they get paid by the union, it's nowhere near how much they usually earn doing their jobs (the garbage strike people get paid around $40/hr). my mom also said that the strike started (for the garbage issue) because the workers wanted 50 days of paid vacation each year but that's kinda ridiculous so the government wont agree to it.

I do belive they're nearing 75 days (thought I might be out-of-sync with it). I'm not really worried about it because I live at UBC as a resident (not *in* residence.. but I guess it's sorta the same in this respect) and our garbage removal service is seperate from Vancouver.

i think 73% of the CUPE workers agreed to the government's negotiations...but then 78% of the library people rejected it. at least thats what it showed on the news for me

I'm confused about this.

Who/what exactly is back from the strike? Some people are saying that garbage people and community centre and other stuff are back, yet some people are saying they AREN'T back... -.-

Are the community centres back?

^ SWEEEEEEEEEEeet...

except we don't have THAT much garbage since we throw it at my mom's work... XDXDXD

but finally! I hate passing by the park and then seeing the area around the garbage bin all disgusting... so much garbage.... its sooo.. unapppealing.

So, is it just library workers who are still on strike?

^yeah, i think just the library workers. i kinda feel bad for them... Confused yesterday, i saw them sitting out in the rain and some of them were walking around holding the signs getting wet. Sad

but im so glad community centres and garbage cleanup are back for the same reason you said, i hope the parks will get clean and pretty again soon! hehe;)
