My best subject is religion, 99% so far hah. And then English with 97%.
My worse subject would be gym. Over-all 88%, but 68% in the communication part of it.

Right now, my best is in Visual Arts (100%) and lowest is Functions (47%) Neutral Maybe because I've already convinced myself I don't need math for the rest of my life...

^^I'm thinking of dropping calculus next semester.. NONE of this stuff is actually useful in the profession I want to do (accounting.) The most complicated math I used at work was calculating GST and PST. And the uni I want to go to doesn't require calculus as a prerequisite.. so there's no point in this! Mad

Even though calculus is really awful (I hate calc), you should still take it. I'm not sure how much this applies to you but I'm in my first year at UBC taking Commerce. A first year calculus course is mandatory for everyone in commerce. I was so thankful that I took calculus ap last year because whatever I'm learning right now is the same as last year. So you should look into the school you are planning to apply to and see if you need to take a first year calc course.

Anyways I only got my math midterm back so far, so I'll just wait and see.

The thing I'm worried about is that calc will lower my average so much so that I won't be accepted.. I don't want to be in a position to have to take summer school or come back for an extra semester because of a single class.

^ Hmm.... that's true. Well, I guess it depends on where you apply and their application process. For the universities that I applied to, they only took my top 4 or 5 courses and used them for my average. So even though I got a 82% in calc, my average percent was 92 since they only used my highest grades.
So, check the universities' program overview and application process.

^I just got back from a university information session with reps from York, Ryerson, and U of T at my school, and the Ryerson rep told me that Advanced Functions will be adequate and even though Calculus is recommended, I won't be at any disadvantage by not taking it.. so that's good enough for me. Happy
Unis in Ontario take your top 6 marks for your average, and since I'm taking 6 classes so I have to do well in all of them.

^ Well, if you don't have to take it then, lucky you! Here in BC, things are different... like they only take your top provincially-examinable courses so courses like accounting, graphics etc don't count. I had 5 provincially-examinable courses plus an extra 2 from my ap classes, so the universities picked my 4 or 5 top courses out of 7, so that was nice for me.

Im really good at english, but for some reason i'm applying for sciences. I guess it's more interesting.

Is anyone taking calculus? Is it worth taking if you're going into the science field?

^^If you do physics it is required, I believe. I think it all kind of depends.

I don't know. I'm not a science person.

Best- Art and English (It took me about five times to get all the letters in order... typo-galoure!)
Worst- Any kind of science and pretty much all maths.

^^^^ I'm not in science, but if you are going into it, I would strongly suggest you take it in high school if you can. When they say "recommended" they usually mean "if you don't take it in high school, you'll have to take it here, and it WILL BE 102984019284 x harder". A lot of science programs (chemistry, physics, engineering, etc) require some level of calculus, and my friends have all complained about the pace of university calculus. I think it would be muuuch easier if you have mastered/or have learned the fundamentals of it in high school.
