I don't know if this is in the right place, so please move it if its not.

I just want to share a tip my mom gave me about shopping that I use all the time: If you see something thats a bit pricey that you're not sure about getting because of the price:
1.Divide the price of the item by the amount of times you think you can wear it
2.Compare it with other things you might buy instead for cheaper (by its $ amount per wear) or just think "would I pay $__ to wear a shirt each use?"

So for ex. a shirt that is $40 that you love, that you can wear one day, each week for a bunch of months would be about $3/per wear, whereas a shirt that is $10 that you would only wear a few times would be about the same.

Just thought I would share that with you.

That's a pretty good way of thinking about it! I don't like to pay much for tshirts that I get tired of quick, but I'm willing to pay a lot more for a pair of jeans I know I'll wear every single day until they wear out. It's also why it's much better to "invest" in good quality basics that you can wear for seasons to come and just buy cheap trendy stuff that you'll wear for a couple of months and get rid of because it's already out of style.

Yeah I use that too when I'm thinking about buying something expensive. I like thinking that the first time I'm wearing, say a new pair of jeans, they're $100. The next time, just $50, then $33, $25, etc... So keep wearing those quality classic pieces!

That's true... but I usually end up buying the cheaper things anyway >.<" I keep telling myself to get into the habit of buying more expensive, higher quality, more durable clothing... but I'll have to start once I find a JOB.

that tip is awesome. thanks. =)
yeah, it seems like my mom has like, trained me to buy sale priced items
but I find that pretty much working for spring/summer,
because at my school, it's all about having the newest things.
thankfully, my birthday's in november, there for
Giftcards! =) those help out.
shirts are hard to find in canada now, it sucks. =(
like everyone shops at ae, so everyone has everything from there
I saw these pretty cool tees from west 49, but they didn't fit
and I couldn't find anything at off the wall.
but since washington's not so far from my home
it's easier to find stuff from there because not many people have these items
so hollister and abercrombie are a good choice and they don't change their seasons/clothing whatever for a while, so it gives you a good chance to stay in the now.
for jeans. that's a given, no one really cares if you have the same pants as someone
so if you think you can wear them for awhile, go ahead and invest
... wow that's a lot I have to say. =P

thx for the tip. that's too much calculation for me tho. i can never know how many times i'll wear it (cuz incidents do happen...unfortunately)

I ususally look @ the price tag and think if it worths paying the $ for. I'll compare it with a similar item @ another shop (i almost always do research b4 i buy someth)

another tip will be...when u see an item that u absolutely love and wanna buy but it has high price....drop the item and think about it for days...then come back if u really want it. (if it worths ur money u would get it anyhow)
most often I change my mind afterwards Happy saved me some bucks.

^ Yeah, I force myself to do that

Unfortunetly (or fortunetly.. depending on how you look at it lol) I have the worst shopper's guilt. I honestly regret everything I buy.. a couple weeks ago, I got this shirt from Aeropostale for like $6, and I was even regretting THAT. Rolling Eyes

^ yeah and i basically forget that i have something or i have like a specific shirt that i love to wear all the time and dont wear other items or then you realize that you should have bought the item cause then you find something that could have gone perfect with that item that you put down..i feel totally blah after that. i feel like my shopping just was to like a waste of money.
