Does anyone go there?
Does anyone know anything about what it's like?
Is it a good university?

Whenever I ask people about it, they talk about Ryerson as if it were a college and that it's not a "real" university.. but that can't be true.

I'm considering going there for the Business Management degree. The accounting program has all the required courses needed to become a CA, while U of T Scarborough and Schulich don't.. meaning I'd need to go to another university or do correspondence after graduating.. which I'm not too keen on. I also heard the co-op program is really good and that most graduates start working right after graduation.

Any info would be great! Happy

fashion_boy,

I am currrently doing a project for my Accounting class on the accounting career of my choice. I chose to do Chartered Accounting. I've done research on www.cica.ca for the information I will need to put in my paper. I am also required to include the Average Salary but I can't seem to find it. Do you know it by any chance?

I know that the salary depends on the job experience and position, but I would really appreciate it if you could give me a basic outline! Thank you.

I also emailed the other representatives on the website but I don't know when I will get a reply back. My paper is due on Monday! And it would be great if you could reply back as soon as possible!

Kim

^^ooh thank youu!! I'm considering moving out since I live kinda far from the campus.

^Last year a rep from the CICA visited us, and she said that a CA who just got their designation will start at about $70 000, and this will rise every year. A CA with 5 years experience will make about $115 000. CAs who work in other countries make an average of $140 000. And according to a pamphlet I read, the average for all CAs is about $160 000.. so you could you'd use that.

If you have any other questions I'll be sure to help. Happy

At my high school this lady who came in for career day and she was in the process of becoming a CA she graduated from Ryerson and she now works at KMPG. She said it was a good school and she liked it. Some people think ryerson is a college because it was first a college and then it became a university.

And do you know the approximate number of years it take to earn the designation?

If you take the $70 000 starting and $115 000 after 5 years, it works to about 10% a year.

I actually wanted to go there for journalism, but I live in Kelowna, BC and I have no family there or anything and I am not quite sure if thats what I want to do. I dont want to move there and then change my mind and go into something else that I could have taken here so I will have to give it some more thought.
