hey, thanks for clicking this topic. 8)
anyways, for the last two weeks of summer, i was working at a temporary job. and on the day where i collected my paycheck, my boss told me that she would email me a reference letter so i could find another job during school. however, it's been around a week and a half since she said that but i still havent gotten the email...i think she might've forgotten about it (she's kind of a forgetful person Razz ). i really want to get the reference letter now because i am really in need of a job during the school year and so many places are hiring now. i was wondering if i email her about it, would i seem too, i dont know the word, but maybe greedy? and if i do email her about it, how should i word it?
even if you don't have any advice for me, thanks so much for reading my sorta long post! ;)_orange and if you do have some advice for me, thanks a lot (in advance) as well!

I think it should be okay to email her and ask her, or even stop in at work and ask her in person. Just make sure you sound nice about it. You could say something like, "I was wondering if you had that reference letter for me because I'm thinking of applying to a few places." Or something like that?

haha, i wish i could drop in to the store to ask her but i cant because her store is in calgary (and i live in vancouver). she just came over to vancouver for around two weeks to set up and run her booths (i was working in one of the booths) at the PNE.
but i'll definitely think about emailing her again trying to sound as nice as i can. thanks for answering and reading my post! ;)_orange

hmm...im not exactly sure how i should start my email. do i start with some conversation first (like "hello, how are you?")? or do i just go straight into the topic like "Hi, I was wondering, since I was planning on applying to a few jobs soon, if you had the reference letter that you were going to email to me."? Confused i need help fast because i want to get the reference letter quick so i can go hand out more résumés + reference letters next weekend. 8)

I think you should go with being polite and friendly since she will be writing you the reference letter. So yeah, start with "Hi, how are you" and then ask for the letter.

Thanks for the quick reply! I just emailed her starting with some polite conversation first, like you suggested, and then later got into the request for the reference letter. I hope that she'll reply me before Saturday because that's when I'm going to the mall again! 8)
