Hey girls!

I'm hair-stupid and believe it or not, I have NEVER picked up a blowdryer to style my hair...and I mean, EVER!!! The only hair-related thing I've ever done is pick up a CHI and straighten like there's no tomorrow. I want to achieve this for an every-day look:

HOW DO I DO IT (steps, products involved, etc.), and how time-consuming is it? Also....can it be done with a CHI (I heard you can use it to curl). My current hair is long, layered, and naturally wavy, but it's very flat and limp with no volume. Thanks ladies Happy

i don't know if you can do it with a straightner or not, because i've never mastered that... but i would suggest velcro rollers. haha although i can't exactly tell you how to use them, i know they would give you that wave AND more body.
sooo maybe if someone could explain the technique? lol that'd be cool to know too...

Hahaa, that's a start! Happy VELCRO ROLLERS!!!! I think it can also be accomplished with a medium barrel curling iron, but not really sure how. Bleeeh.

A curling iron is good, ^but I don't have a clue how to operate one either, hehe. They boggle me. Next time you go to your hairdresser, after they cut your hair ask them to curl it for you (they will usually do it for free), and you can ask them questions on brands, how to use them, tips, etc.

Volumizing shampoo, conditioners, and sprays will help as well!

I would suggest velcro rollers as well, haha. although when I got my GHD, it came with a dvd that had videos explaining how to create different styles, including volume and curls. i'm pretty sure that the videos are on the GHD site, and i think Youtube as well, so try searching it up.

My friend can do curls with her Chi too! But when I try it just a mess lol

Velcro curlers are a good idea, I find them hard to get the hang of though, but they are pretty cheap so if it doesnt work out not to much money lost.

haha i used to do that all the time when I had long hair. What I did was i used a 1" curling iron. I never ever put hairspray on my hair before I curled my hair. I would shake my head/brush my hair to loosen the curls arrange it and finish with hairspray.

Then again it als depends on your hair type.

This may be a bit too late, but it still might be a bit helpful.
I went on google and searched velcro rollers and this is what I found.

Your hair never looks better than when you walk out of the salon. Recreate that look at home with a few simple steps and styling tools and you'll look amazing for every holiday party.

Feliciano Abad, master stylist at Ulta Cosmetics and Salon in the Mesa Pavilions at Superstition Springs, walks us through the steps.

The process takes about 25 minutes to an hour, depending on thickness of hair, Abad says. And you can spend part of that time doing other things.

"While the Velcro (rollers) are in your hair, put your makeup on and actually get ready," Abad says. "Before you head out the door, take them off and put your head upside down and shake it and you're all set."

If you don't want to go it alone, you can always book an appointment. Blowouts are $25-$35 at Ulta salons.

1 PREP HAIR
Start with freshly washed hair that's 90 percent dry, especially at the roots. You can air dry or blow-dry, Abad says, "as long as you get the moisture out." Apply defrizzer to wet hair.

2 SECTION HAIR
Apply root lifter to the roots of hair and divide front hair from the back. Then separate the front section into three equal sections. Twist each piece tightly to the scalp and secure with a hair clip. Divide the back into four sections, twist each piece and clip. No need to twist off your bangs or hair in the front because you'll start with that piece first.

3 BLOW-DRY HAIR WITH A ROUND BRUSH
Place a round brush under a section of hair and start close to the scalp, pulling the brush to the ends as the hairdryer follows the brush. Abad recommends using a boar-bristle brush because "it doesn't break the hair like nylon ones and it grips the hair better." Continue until the section is completely dry before moving to the next section.

4 SET HAIR ROLLERS
After the hair is dry, wrap hair around Velcro roller, starting at the tip and rolling to the root. Secure with a hair clip.

5 SPRAY HAIR
When rollers are in place, mist all over lightly with hairspray and let it dry.

6 REMOVE ROLLERS
Once hair is dry, carefully remove rollers. Don't tug or you'll end up with knots that hurt.

7 FINGER COMB
Toss your head to the side and softly blow-dry hair on the cool setting. Then apply texturizer or finishing balm to the tips of your fingers while you softly comb hair. Flip sides and you're done.

8 YOU'RE DONE!

----------

DO: Use the cool button on your hair dryer. It'll set the hair and give you a little more body.

DON'T: Blow-dry your hair upwards. It frizzes hair and adds static.

DON'T: Overuse the final products -- the hair spray, the texturizer and finishing balm -- so your hair won't be weighed down.

----------

The tools
-Round boar-bristle brush. It's ideal for gripping hair and stretching it straight as you blow-dry.

-Blow-dryer. Make sure it has two settings and a cool button. A nozzle attachment will help direct airflow and make drying easier.

-Eight 2-inch Velcro rollers. They will set hair that's just been blow-dried.

-Hair clips. Keep hair and rollers in place.

I hope i helpedd Very Happy.

my hair is like this right now haha.

I have a large curling iron..i think the barrel might be 1"?
i wash my hair and blow dry it upside down for extra volume.
After its dry i separate it into 1-2 inch sections then curl them. Doesn't matter what way you curl the hair..pretty much just go nuts haha.
Once i have curled all the hair i spray it with hair spray and run my fingers through it to mess it up a bit. After a little back combing at the roots i'm set for the night!
