^Something casual and simple yet chic. If it's warm enough, maybe a pair of cuffed shorts (or short shorts if you have great legs haha) and a cute tee or tank. Layer on some necklaces or bangles and comfy runners or flats.

^ Some comfy that you could walk around in. Dont bring a heavy sweater (unless its really cold) because you'll have to carry it around all day. Make sure you wear really comfy shoes, your feet will thank you =)

I'm going to a bridal shower for my cousin and I'm not sure what to wear. The invitation didn't say but the shower starts at 7pm. Do you usually have to dress up for these things or can you just go in jeans? Outfit suggestions along with shoes would be much appreciated =)

^well if you were to wear jeans, make sure you dress up the rest of your outfit. i would wear pumps, (or another pair of heels) and a nice/dressy blouse/shirt.

^^better to be overdressed than underdressed. I wouldn't wear jeans unless they were darkwash trousers or a skirt of some kind. I think a flowy skirt would be perfect, with chic flats, a simple shirt with subtle detail and perhaps a jean jacket.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I have this nice off-white eyelet skirt, but I don't have any nice top that would be appropriate for a bridal shower to go with it. So I was thinking of wearing a white eyelet dress with some flats and layered necklaces instead. Do you guys think that's ok? And are you allowed to wear white to a bridal shower (haha, sorry if that sounds like a dumb question..but supposedly you're not supposed to wear white to a wedding, so I'm not sure if it's alright for this)? Thanks so much =)

Well the whole white-to-a-wedding thing is because of the wedding dress, right?
Your outfit sounds fine.

white to a wedding is very scandalous, I think I'd be upset. But this isn't the wedding, so I think you're outfit sounds perfect.

Vicci! Your outfit sounds perfect. It's a bridal shower after all, not a wedding so wearing white shouldn't be a problem :P You can always bring a cute coloured cardigan to cover up with just in case ;)_orange

Thats actually kinda funny because I just went to my cousins bridal shower, lol. Except my mom had the bridal shower for her so it was at my house. Anyways, most people didnt dress up for it. I just wore my guess jeans, a white tunic, some white shell earrings and bracelets and some cute leather flip-flops.

What about to an outdoor wedding? It's my boyfriends cousins wedding and it's not really formal at all. It's going to be in the backyard of her hubbys.. What should I wear and accessories? It's my first time meeting his family and I can be a little "high maintence" when it comes to how I dress so I want to make sure I'm not extremly dressy! =)

Yeah I agree, I think a sundress would be nice! Just make sure it's in a nice summer-y colour like orange, yellow, pink, light green. Nothing dark like black or navy since it doesn't seem as appropriate for an outdoor wedding. And bright colours are perfect for summer. And then you can always pair it with cute flats, something with a low heel (like kitten heels) or wedges. I wouldn't go with flip flops since it seems a bit too casual and sloppy.

I agree with everyone else, a cute sundress thats not too long but not really really short. And definitely not white or Black. As for shoes, either a pair of NICE (not over worn, a pair thats as thin as possible, with the strap thin and the heel not chunky) flipflops with a decent color would look nice. Or even a good pair of flats, any color. High Heels would look really good as well.

So one of my best friend's is having her 18th birthday party this Saturday, and we're having a dinner party at a fancy restaurant downtown...just wondering what I should wear? I want to wear a dress, but I don't know where the line between formal and a little too formal is. I was thinking about buying a new dress, a simple black one, but I don't want it to be like expensive, cause I mean it's just a birthday right? I figure that if I get one though it'd be good cause black dresses are generally really versatile...any suggestions?

^I think a black dress would be nice since it's so versatile. You could wear it to the birthday party and then always save it for another event. Look for one that's about knee-length so it's not too casual, yet not too formal. And lay off on one that has lots of fancy details like tulle, sequins, embroidery, beads, etc etc since those usually aren't as versatile. I think a knee-length LBD in satin would be nice. Wear it to the party with some jewellery (maybe a nice delicate silver necklace or dangly earrings) to spice up the dress. And to dress it down, you could always pair a white collared blouse underneath (very Chloe s/s 07).

^ Thanks for your advice! I tried looking for a LBD, but I couldn't really find one that flattered my figure in enough time (I've been insanely busy the past few weeks). So I found a dress at Urban Behavior instead, it's cut to right above the knee and has twisty straps and simple neckline. And plus, it was only $15! I just dressed it up with a gold necklace and some earrings plus heels...and I really like it cause I can dress it down, with flip flops or flats! Happy

Well this is quite a ways away, but I was wondering what to wear to a family Christmas party. Its with all of my aunts, uncles, cousins etc. Everyone usually dresses up quite a bit so its not like the usual jeans and tshirt family get together type thing. So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Thanks!

^You could wear a sweaterdress in a christmas-y colour like red or white. Or you could wear a simple and sophisticated LBD and maybe wear a cardigan on top? And don't forget some dark opaque tights.

Wear a dress, it's fancier even if it's in a not in a silk or anything. You'll look cute. If it's semi-formal type thing, wear a a thin-knit sweater or turtleneck under a cotton jumper dress. ^ As Victoria said, tights are a good idea. They'll keep you wram and look good. A lace-y blouse over a simple pencil skirt would also look nice.
Is it at a restaurant or at someone's house? If it's at someone's house, make sure that whatever you wear is still going to be confortable when supper is over and you're just hanging around. If it's at a restaurant, you can afford a little less comfort because you'll naturally be staying for a shorter time.

Thanks for your guys' help. The party is in an apartment. I have a gray jumper that I could wear, but what shoes should I wear with it? Do you think boots would be too casual or should I go with heels?

^^Won't it get too hot with boots? Why not go for a pair of flats or comfy heels (you'll be standing up a lot)

^^^I think flats or kitten heels would be better. Boots can dress it down a lot more than intended, and like ^ said, it will probably get hot.
