What is the worst or the best beauty advice you ever got from a magazine?

My best would have to be heating up a curling iron with a blowdryer before curling my eyelashes.

My worst would have to be minimizing how much you exfoliate.

Hm I can't think of a specific instance but it bothers me immensely when they show a model and recommend a product, but the model is obviously wearing a fancier version/different shade of what they recommend. Like, it'll show them with dark red lips and recommend a Bonnebelle lipgloss.

Skip a day of washing your hair = horrible for me.
My hair's not superoily or anything, but when I skip a day it's really gross. Same with my friends. Never works for them either.

^ yeah I totally agree with you on that one. also when they say to sprinkle baby powder on the oily roots to reduce its oily appearance, it SO does not work at all.

^ When I wake up too late to shower, I always put baby powder in my hair, it works really well. You can't just sprinkle it in your hair and watch it magically dissapear, you have to really rub it in. What also works really well is face powder, especially loose face powder because it's easier to blend in since it doesn't show as much.

^ yeah my hair is dark brown. I suppose I didn't rub it in enough? I wouldn't want to waste face powder either and after all the hassle, for me it's just eaiser to wash my hair again.

you could also try dry shampoos
shampoos you spray in your hair and dont need to wash out
they pick up all the greaseyness and dirt

a good piece of advice i've gotten is if you want your nailpolish to dry fairly quickly dip your nails in ice water and leave them there for a few minutes.

^Eww that's gross! The whole skip of day of washing your hair would never work for me. My hair needs to be washed every day, or it would just be disgusting. I think people just feel after having gross hair for six days that on the seventh day, after washing, it feels perfect in comparison.

actually for me, skipping a day of washing my hair has worked wonders. but i'm pretty sure that when i was in my earlier teens i don't think i could have gotten away with it. mind you, when youre doing sports everyday you kind of HAVE to wash it every day... haha i'm kind of rambling. anywho...

and the worst... hm. i read somewhere not to brush your hair often. that's pretty dumb cuz you have to distribute the oils or else it DOES get greasy...
and the natural oils are good for your hair.
ook lol i'm done now =)

I use cornstarch and it works really well. You just have to rub it in really well, almost like ur shampooing ur hair and then you have to comb it out.

The baby powder in the hair has worked for me a few times. And there is no way I would ever wash my hair everyday, that means I would have to straighten everyday lol No thank you!

I always see bad advice when it comes to what eyeshadow for what eye colour. You dont want to wear the same colour as your eyes! You want to wear the contrasting colour for the greatest effect.

I think the best advice I have gotten would be to stop touching my face. I know it seems obvious, but I used to have zits all over my chin from putting my chin in my hand at school and after hearing that, I stopped and so did the acne. Oh another good one was to wash your pillow case often and sleep with your hair pulled back so that it isnt against ur face all night.

I cant really think of the worst hair tip right now though...

Umm... I don't think ANY reputable beauty adviser would ever say a thing like that. Unless the person was on crack.

A long long long long time ago i read in a magazine that the way to get soft hands was to cover then in honey and rinse in cold water.
I was bored so i tried that, it didnt do anything but make my hands nasty and gross and the honey made my hands uber dry

the best was blow drying my hair with cold hair to set a style after using heat. Like after i curl it just blow cold air on the hair to hold the curls better. totally works!

worst ...oh theres been all too many, i'm a bit of a sucker for tips, and one told me to put honey in my hair for extra shine and then rinse it out after like 10 minutes or something? needless to say it did NOT rinse right out. Oooh what a mess, i could cry just thinking about it haha

Ok I thought of a beauty tip that wasnt that great. I read in a magazine once that you should not shave your legs and just let the hair grow long. The person said that their was all soft and nice. Haha, I tried it and ya my hair was softer and not bristly, but I was still really hairy and couldnt show my legs. Its kind of like, whats the point in not shaving your legs so you can have soft hair? Its going to be soft cause it isnt short and bristly. Who wants hairy legs?

best advice: 1. remove waterproof mascara with olive oil, like you use a cotton swab and leave it on your eyes for 30 secs and then use ur way of removing makeup, it was SO much easier for me to get the waterproof mascara off cuz it sticks on forever!
2. use white eyeliner to make ur eyes appear larger
3. mix honey and sugar, apply on lips to reduce the dryness of it, and even if it doesn't work for u at least it tastes good!
