I've been meaning to get mine done since.. well since last summer, but something always came up.
It sounds like you got it undercontrol with getting it done with a needle at a clean place.
Advice? My friends just say to make sure you take care of it, especially at the beginning so it doesn't get infected. _________________

| I got mine done quite a while ago. I cleaned it religiously and it got infected really badly still. The infection hurt more than the piercing. I swear there's likea 99% chance of it getting infected, everyone I know who's had it done has had theirs get infected. |

^ohhh yeah? i heard they got easily infected! so what happened? did you take it out? or just clean it and it eventually went away? _________________ formerly known as rubbersoul |

| i got mine done about 10 months ago. it never got seriously infected, but i suppose it was irritable? i don't know if that's the right word to use, but yeah. it was just really sensitive at first. my piercing is completely healthy now though. i can touch it and change earrings with no trouble. my friend however just got hers done. she was cleaning it everyday and what not but it still managed to get infected so she took it out. |

| I left it in, you have to or else you could make it worse. If you take out the earring your ear will heal over the infection making things really bad. I had to insert a sterilized needle into it everyday and drain the fluids, which was extremely nasty and painful. My ear was slightly green for awhile too. I went to the doctor's and he wouldn't prescribe anti-biotics so I had to use my own method. Eventually it cleared up and was all good, but man was it a pain. |

Though the needle sounds painful, it really is much better. The needles are sterilized more religiously than anything else. Plus, there shouldn't be much problems with the *actual* piercing afterwards when it heals. Also, if you go to the right piercer, you may not even noticed that you're getting pierced until he says that he's done.
I got my cartilage piercing 3 years ago... with the gun... in Ardene's. Not a smart thing to do. I cleaned it like... everyday. I didn't get an infection (though I honestly don't remember if I did or didn't), but the back of my ear didn't heal over properly. now I have this big lump of scar tissue that won't go away.
So the moral of the story:
WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T GET A CARTILAGE PIERCING WITH THE GUN! |

^agreed, definitely don't get it done with a gun!!
^^ did you end up getting it done??? I had mine done about 4 months ago. Mine did NOT get infected. I just made sure to clean it regularly with tea tree soap, and every now and then cleaned it with rubbing alcohol even though they say you shouldn't. It worked so 'they' can take THAT. Ohhhhh and incase you haven't gotten it pierced yet...I suggest getting the ear opposite from the one you sleep on pierced. _________________ in my mind I’m havin’ a pretty good time with you |

Go to a tattoo/piercing place with professionals as opposed to a beauty salon (I don't even know if it's legal to do it at salons anymore, with the gun). I got mine done at a store in the mall and it got terribly infected. _________________ www.primmagazine.com |

uh-oh, i got mine done with a gun? :S
it was no big deal though, it didn't hurt at all. i cleaned it every day and followed the instructions and it didn't get infected until after when i got lazy with my cleaning schedule. even then it didn't hurt that much but there was this green goopy stuff. yeahhhh, it was pretty nasty. my aunt had a major problem with her cartilage though (as in it being infected no matter what she did to prevent it) and she ended up just taking it out and letting it heal.
WORD OF ADVICE: watch out for hugs. seriously, i know that sounds incredibly stupid but a couple days after i got mine done my friend hugged me and her head kinda bumped the piercing and it HURT LIKE HELL!!!! lol _________________

| I would say you definitely can feel it, but it's not as painful as you'd think. I also never got my ear frozen, and I was in grade 5 so I'd think it'd be less painful for you. I was surprised I didn't cry, but honestly I didn't feel it too much, except when she put the jewelry in. Then I saw random yellow circles everywhere. |

Wow, I've wanted to get my cartilidge pierced since I was in grade 9. One time I was so close to doing it, but I chickened out and got my second hole pierced instead. You should go to a tatoo/piercing place, and get it done by needle. Just make sure that the place is clean -- like they sterilyze stuff. I was told that in almost all cases you will get an infection, or there's a myth where you can become paralyzed if they pierce your vein? I think cartilidge piercings are REALLY cute. _________________ < fashion 3 |
