| I have mac liquid eyeliner and I love it and I was thinking of buying some of their eyeshadow. I usually use clinique, but was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for mac eyeshadow. |

Do you mean a reccomendation of their eyeshadow in general, or specific shades?
Anyway, I *love* their eyeshadow .. it's pricey, but I don't mind splurging on it once in a while. I *know* I'll end up buying more later on so I just buy a 4-pan palette [or 15-pans are available too], and then but the eyeshadow in just the little pan without the pot, so that in the long run, it's cheaper.
The staying power is good, and they are VERY pigmented, in general. There have been a few that really sucked, but it also has to do with your skin tone - definitely ask the MA if you can try it out first. There are some shades that everybody loves but didn't even show up on me, since I have slightly darker colouring on my eyelids. They're good for blending and layering over ther colours. Nothing ever stays put on my eyelids since they are more on the oily side [surprising, eh?], but MAC eyeshadows do better than the rest [usually!].
The paints are very pricey, but EXTREMELY pigmented. A very very tiny bit is enough for the entire lid [and possibly more]. It also has really good staying power, at least in my experience. I usually use it as a base, and I have some in really crazy colours which I layer regular eyeshadows over.
The pigments are very pricey too, but last forever since they are exactly as the name implies .. very pigmented, lol. You can apply them dry or wet, and you can mix them with other things [like lipgloss, nailpolish, you can use them for cheek colour, etc.].
The shadesticks .. meh. They have some nice colours but they didn't stay long for me. Maybe that's just me and my messed up eyelids, haha. They werea lso way to expensive for what they really were. I didn't think they were as versatile. |

*thumbs up*
I prefer MAC's brown/neutral eyeshadows. I do prefer Too Faced for pigmentation, but MAC does the job just fine.
Yeah, I do what ladyh_ does- get the pan. It's much more convenient (and customizing your palette is fun =P).
I love "Crystal Avalanche". If you're looking for a white frosty shimmer colour, get that one.
A really nice green is "Swimming". It makes my hazely eyes pop.
One of my absolute most favourites is this shimmery beige called "Gingersoft". It was in a holiday palette so I don't know if they sell it individually but it is just wonderful.
Ladyh_ said it all but whatever lol. |

| Thanks! I went to their site, but there are so many to choose from, I dont know which one to pick. I have freckles and hazel eyes, and fair skin so which one do you think would look best on me? |

for christmas (05, i believe) i got the MAC Box filled with like everything.
http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/products/mp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY18359
and the colors are great... (The pigment isn't as good as it used to be) but i really don't use my colors that much.
i think it's sad.
But honestly you should just look for color, doesn't matter if it's MAC or not. _________________ Let me tell you something, Mister. If I had her money, I'd be richer than she is.

| ^But they're soo expensive. It cost me like $43 for mine, and even though the black is probably one of the best I used, the white was only okay. |

also they sell them in a couple makeup wherehouse places downtown.
they might be fake.
but at least they work well. |

I've just gotten a makeup consultation at MAC and what I can recommend is to get a primer. It's like a paint you out on over your eyelid before the eyeshadow. It makes the eyeshadow colour pop and stick for a lot longer, and you don't have to use as much.
I love the shadows I got after my consultation I got a colour called Gorgeous Gold, that looks gold but has a light green reflexion depending on what you wear. It looks great with everything I've tried and looks a lot better on than it does in the box. I also bought Sumptuous Olive, which is gorgeous as well. Omega was the third one I bought, which I can use as either eyebrow shader or eyeshadow. It's a soft beige-taupe.
A good way to get to know MAC makeup is by booking a consultation. The promotion The Bay MAC stand had that has been going on forever is that it costs 40$, but then you get to have 40$ of free MAC makeup after. It doesn't apply in MAC stores though, only at The Bay. Check with your local The Bay to see if they do the same. But be aware that after your consultation, you'll end up buying a whole lot more than just 40$. My friend did it and she spent over 100$. I did it and I spent nearly 200$ (My mom paid for it as a birthday present) |

Can you pick which colors you put in a pan palette or can you only buy pre-made ones? |

| ^ Yup, you can customize the palette and justp ick whatever shadows you like. Plus, you can just buy one shadow at a time and slowly fill up the palette, you don't need to get them all at once. The only limitation is, they don't have limited edition shades in the cheaper pan form that youc an put in an empty palette, those you'd have to get the regular pot. [Then again youc ould always de-pot it in and stick it in the palette for convenience's sake anyway]. |

I usually just buy the pan and put it in my palette. Occasionally I'll splurge and get the pot eyeshadow and depot it, since they are now accepting B2M empties for a free eyeshadow (at MAC pros).. or maybe they always were but I just found out about it now.
Anyways, I recommend woodwinked, gleam, honey lust, mythology, all that glitters for neutrals. |

| I just got Nocturnelle .. definitely my new favourite shade! It's the perfect shade of purple for me, plus it's not overly glittery/shimmery, which is just what I was lookin for. |

| ^ hey I have Nocturnelle too! yeah it's really really nice. I really like MAC eyeshadows in general so I haven't bothered trying any other brand. I also like Honesty (it's a lustre so it's basically goldish/copperish sparkle) and Swish (a frost). I also like their paints. I just got Stilife and it looks really nice as a base or on its own. and yeah, a little goes such a long way (and it better, for the price of that tiny tube). I also just got a shadestick in Penny and I do like the shadesticks. They wear nicely over paints and this colour I got looks really nice under the Honesty eyeshadow when I'm going out. |

^ I heard soo many good things about Stilife, and I wanted to like it so badly since I heard that it was an amazing base. Unfortunately it was a bit too light and chalky for me, since my eyelids are on the darker side .. and it was kind of shimmery. I ended up getting Tan Ray instead, a darker non-shimmery paint.
Do all paints have the same staying power in general, or are some a little more long-wearing than others? I have two, Tan Ray and Flammable [blood red], and at least on me, they don't seem to have the super-crazy-long staying power that they do on other people. I have oily eyelids, but all I have heard are good reviews. |

| ^ yes, my eyelid are on the oily side too and although I do see a small crease after around 6 hours or so the staying power of the paint is really good. also, maybe I don't see a crease as much since Stilife is on the shimmery side. Wow cool you got the red one? I tried that one on my hand in the store and it was so red! Do you wear that one alone or as a base? |

| ^ Usually as a base .. I usually use it under Trax. Trax does not show up AT ALL on just my bare lids, but once I put it on top of Flammable, it looked really good and just like how it is in the pan. I usually use Flammable at the bottom and something purple/pink on top, and line with Macroviolet [Fluidline]. |
