I have this BIG scar on my shins. It happened when I was trying to jump over a concrete wall and I caught my leg and skinned it really badly. That injury happened last summer and it's all healed over now.. but now the area that got skinned is all purple and brown, and very noticeable.

Any idea how I could get rid of it (not cover it up)? Lotions, treatments, etc.?

hmm..you'd have to see a doctor for that, but I don't think you can really cover it up. Does it hurt?

If the scar isn't really THAT bad and there's only discolouration, maybe try Polysporin? I sometimes use it for small pimple scars and it helps fade the brown/red areas so maybe it would work for your scar. It's worth a try.

Or you could try exfoliating. It gets rid of dead skin cells and I'm really not sure if it would work on a scar but if you do it enough over time, it might help to fade it.

When I was younger, I fell down and skinned my knee and it left a scar, it wasn't so bad, not one of those bumpy white scars, it was just discolouration and it faded after a few months. Well, more than a few months but I didn't do anything to help it and it still disappeared.

there isn't much you can do about it, really.
if its like extruding, i think polysporin or something makes these silicone scar sheets to help flatten it.
if its jsut discolouration a few things you coudl try woul db like like cocoa butter and vitamin e, although i really dont think tis going to work THAT much, but it's worth a shot. i've heard about the polysporin too.

Definately try Vitamin E Daily Defense Balancing Moisture Lotion by Jamieson Laboratories. It helps get fade scars so well! And you can pretty much get in anymore.

Ooo... any shop would have the Vitamin E lotion? Do you know if Shoppers has it? How much does it cost?

scars will naturally heal in 7 years, the skin will regrow over it. but .. if you want a quick fix aloe vera is supposed to be really good for them.

I know that The Body Shop sells Vitamin E lotion as well as a body butter that's 20$. The lotion would be cheaper. I'm sure SHoppers would have something that it would sell you, probab;y in tha 6-10$ range, but I would recommend getting The Body Shop cream, because their products with natural ingredients are better quality (work better) than the drug store ones that are full of just chemicals.

I've heard of patches and lotions that you can put on scars to make them less noticeable, I was thinking of trying them. I think my friend tried one for a scar on her face and it worked well. Im pretty sure you can get them at shoppers or london drugs.
