Okay I just got a phone call from the city saying they are asking me for a job interview.

And I havnt really had an interview ever before, so i thought I would make a thread where people could post tips about job interviews, like what to expect, some questions that are commenly asked, ettiquete (sp?), what clothes to wear, etcetera.

Ah, the interview. Here are some tips:

FIRST IMPRESSIONS!
eye contact, firm handshake. a firm handshake tells a lot about you.

BE PREPARED!
have a two-minute speech prepared for the inevitable question "Tell me about yourself." Research the company ahead of time, so you know what to say when they ask what you know about the company. Don't be afraid to ask questions, because your questions might impress the interviewer.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS!
If the job is in a warehouse where you would wear jeans and a t-shirt, wear khakis and a polo shirt. If the job is in retail, selling clothes, wear the type of clothing you'd be selling. It's also best to cover tattoos, and if you have facial piercings, leave the metal at home.

I GOT THE JOBBBB!!!

So excited right now. I was so nervous during the interview, and my answers were pretty weak though. but oh wellll, at least i got hired.

YAYYYY! I start monday.

QUESTION: If the manager asks you to fill out some forms, asking for your availability (even though it's on the application you submited) and for your SIN #, is that a hint that you got the job? She said that she still has to call my refs though....

I'm ..... something. I just had an interview for Jacob Connexion and I hope I got the job.....

When you get it extend your hand for a handshake and a nice big smile. Happy

Sound professional but not too much. You want to seem like a happy, fun human being, not some boring person whos good at everything. And just seem secure in yourself and not desperate.
