I reeeeally reeeally need a good mascara.. one that both thickens and lengthens eyelashes. I've tried a few of the drugstore brands (Maybelline & Covergirl) and Avon but I haven't liked any of them so far.

I've heard tons of good feedback on Diorshow.. I really want to try it but before splurging on it I want to know if there's anything cheaper that will do the trick? I know the more expensive it is, the better results you'll get.. most of the time.. but my budget isn't that big.

I've already checked those opinion sites and I haven't found much help.

I live in the Ottawa area. Any good suggestions? I really wish there was a Sephora around here Sad.

Hey fellow Ottawa person!

Sorry, I woudn't know much about that Dior one, never tried the Dior makeup. However, have you tried the Great Lenghts from Maybelline? It's only like 5$ and I like it better than my Lancome mascara. Try it out to see if it works for you. I put on a few coats of it when I go out, for school, I only need one or two. Another trick that helps for mascara, any kind, is look up when you put the brush threw your lashes, wiggle it, then look down to pass it through them.

Let me know if it works out for you!

I tried my momma's Dior mascara (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P37307&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=1073) a couple of times and it worked rather well. It lengthens and thickens but watch that you don't use too much.
My mom also has this:
http://www.lancome-usa.com/_us/_en/catalog/makeup_flextencils.htm
which I've tried. It works well but I couldn't really apply a second coat once it dried. However that could be because of my inexperience and poor technique! lol
I've heard this:
http://www.lancome-usa.com/_us/_en/catalog/makeup_hypnose.htm
works wonders. I've never tried it but you can? It's rather pricey though Neutral
The DiorShow (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P40404) looks AMAZING on my friend's lashes so I'd say... try it?

For a cheaper alternative, this is GOOD and more than worth its price:
http://www.covergirl.com/cgcollection/eyes/mascara/mini_lashexact/volumeexact.jhtml;jsessionid=0RR2KISF331RFQFIAJ13OCQ#
(Unless you've tried it already..lol Razz)

^Don't bother with Lancome Hypnose. My mom always buys Lancome perfume and they always come with gift sets and stuff. So now i have 2 tubes of Hypnose and it does not work at all! I even did a side-by-side comparison and only put it on one of my eyes... and they looked THE SAME. I'm not even exaggerating!

Thank you all for the suggestions. I really appreciate it =).

I'll probably try the brands you guys suggested before trying Diorshow.

clinque has some good mascara, tip to thicken eyelashes is to start from the bottom and the i guess shimmy the brush up that should spread out your lashes. oh and if you wash the brush in hot water it should make it less clumpy. :) oh and DONT FORGET TO BUY A NEW TUBE EVERY THREE MONTHS dont think make up doesnt expire just like your food does !

:)

Well I use Lash Exact, by Covergirl I think. I'm not one to spend $20.00 on makeup, so I stick with the drugstore stuff. This one is probably the best of all the ones I've tried.

l'oreal voluminous, the original one
maybelline full n' soft.

the only two i've tried, both work quite well.
i like voluminous better, but i too am in teh search for something more dramatic. people say its dramatic-looking, but for me i think it's pretty natrual still Crying or Very sad

Try L'oreal Volume Shocking (I use it for partying). Make sure to get waterproof. It works really well, just remember to seperate your lashes with a clean masacara brush between coats and especially after putting on the primer. I usually do 3 coats of color. When I have this on, it makes me look like I have eyelash extensions with loads of volume.

Tip: Make sure to curl your lashes completely from root to tip because the mascara will weigh your lashes down and make them straight. Also, you want to do a few coats of masacara to make it really show. I used to do only one coat when when I was younger and it looked like nothing. Plus if your mascara has been open for over 3 months, its probably too dry and won't allow you to have a good application.

On an everyday basis I use Maybelline Volume Express. It doesn't produce as much volume, but it works nicely for everyday.

me hearts diorshow.

but...me heart HEARTS dior maximeyes much more. Happy

for my asian eyelashes, diorshow has a tendency to smudge by the end of the day and weigh down any curl. on the plus side, it doesn't clump at all. maximeyes does much more for me in that it keeps the curl made by my curler, and the brush distributes the mascara more evenly and easily. all in all, my experience with dior mascara:
diorshow = natural look, not dramatic, light coating no matter how many how many times i swiped it on, flakes off.
maximeyes = dramatically darker, kept the curl, provided more volume, no smudges.

i agree, clinique is super good (lash doubling mascara), but i find the most important thing to a good mascara is a stiff brush. it's super importnat so that it touches your eyelashes and "combs" through so its not super soft brushes that swabs it on in blotches

^^I agree. Clinique Lash Doubling is awesome. It only comes off if I pick it off by hand. I have a very bad habit of doing that.
